Just ticketed up for the Decemberists in March, and Low Anthem in April. Got a bunch of small gigs before then (mostly local bands). Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr in July, and two festivals: Primavera (Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips, Pulp, Grinderman, Animal Collective, Belle and Sebastian, Fleet Foxes, the National, Caribou, a lot more) and End of the Road (Wild Beasts, Beirut, Midlake, lots of good smaller bands).

^fuck yes, that is a cluster of awesome. (Fleet Foxes and Midlake are both very good live)

I have Baths, Twin Tigers, Cinemechanica, Tapes 'N Tapes, Oberhofer, Bright Eyes, Cursive, Murder By Death, & Toro Y Moi all coming up in the next couple of months!

Then Mogwai in May!

Great list, dude. I saw Midlake last year and they were great.

Hopefully I'm be catching the Moondoggies in a couple weeks. I'm torn between Murder By Death and Deep Dark Woods playing the same night here in town next month. What are the fucking odds of two smaller bands I like playing in town on the same night. Dammit. I'll also be at the Arcade Fire / The National show in April--froze my ass off Saturday morning for those tickets.

Your list looks similar to mine.
Not sure if I'm gonna be able to catch Bright Eyes unfortunately.
But what I've got on deck for the next couple months -

The American Dollar
Woods & Ducktails
Akron/Family
Murder By Death
Godspeed You Black Emperor
Elephant 6 show
Destroyer & War On Drugs
Starfucker
The Go! Team
Mogwai
of Montreal

That's my Feb-Apr

got to see cake the last night of their 3 night sold out run here in atlanta. very intimate venue, very good show.

always been a fan but had never seen them live.

they just came out with a new album but they played the perfect mix of old and new. opened the show with a willie nelson tune and opened the 2nd set with war pigs.

great show, go see them if they're around you.

I've seen the Scream on a few occasions , but that must have been quite something 2 hear them do Screamdelica.

Tool @ Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne - 2/2/11

I went to see Tool last night at the Bowl in Melbourne...

It's been a few years since I have seen them... previously at Big Day Out - Adelaide in 2007 and prior to that at Adelaide Ent. Centre in 2001? 2002? for the Lateralus tour.

Firstly, let me say that Tool have been one of my all time favourite bands/artists for about 18 years. High rotation on the car/MP3/stereo, wherever... I am a fan %)
I certainly wouldn't report last night as having been crap or anything, and as far as gigs/bands/shows go it was certainly a spectacle but it just didn't compare to the energy that either of the other two shows I saw previously had.

Perhaps it was the lack of a new album/material to tour with, or even the venue, which I felt wasn't optimal for this sort of show...
To describe the Bowl, think stage area, then pitted seating area, followed by grassy hillside/ampitheatre... some spectacularly lucky friends had 2nd row seated tix (with Alex & Allison Gray seated in front of them drawing along with the show might I ad) and I am sure that they were blown away, however from back on the lawned hill I thought the sound lost some of it's impact (swirly breeze?? out door acoustics??), it was difficult to see the band members, and to distinguish meaningful humanoid stage activity from the stunning visuals, and overall, an odd atmosphere of rather placid folk watching a bunch of screen with little ant men in front of them :\

Dear Tool,
If you were in a better suited venue, with better sound and vantage points that favoured more than the just the seated up close areas and the first few bits of the gen admish behind that, it would have been a better gig.
Also, what the fuck is this seating close, standing room behind that crap?? Are we at a symphony?? Jeebus!
Having said that, Jambi helped me get my buzz on, Aenema made me feel funny in my parts (!!) and your visuals are well wicked.
I'm glad I came and saw you, but next time can you please play somewhere like Etihad Stadium, in the round, with plenty of standing and seating options for all??
Thanks guys.
Much love & peace out to all my homies,
Ezinnes
<3

PS - Now I am off to listen to H... I reckon that is your best song for suresies xx
PPS - If I had a Delorean, I would travel back in time and watch you early on xx

^ Lucky to see Tool. I'll be going to their next London date (which probably won't be untill next year :!)

I saw Maps & Atlases the other night. I don't really listen to them but I was suprised at how good they were live. Supporting them was Three Trapped Tigers, who I was going for, who were amazing as usual.

Next month I've got Mouse On The Keys with Enemies which is going to be sick. And Mogwai =D

I would say Glassjaw as well but they sold out :!

brimz, get yourself down to Brixton Academy in March, trying to put together some BLers for the Scream gig there :)

I would love 2 , i;m not in the best of places atm but maybe by March i will be. I will seriously consider it n check the dates that . I'll pm you let u know how things pan out ok:)

My favorite band Protest the Hero is coming to my town march 30th just after they release their new album on march 22nd. its serendipity and here is their new single.

at the last and every show of theirs that they preform here I get hips to the stage front facing Rody Walker and lay my ear to the monitors and just let those boys give me hell. I didn't budge or give an inch to the crowd behind me for their whole set. rewarded by Rody switching sides and busting wailing notes left and right ohhh god yes, and once more in march! this will be the best show I'll ever have seen of theirs and i'll just make it so!
