and thats why you'll never be a "cool guy", flounder.

Tell Chet and Chad that Brittany L and Shelly P left their sorority paraphernalia at my place, and that if they were cool...they're cool, right-- they'd come get it. ;)

I don't think anyone who willingly wants to attend a B-52s show could ever be considered cool.

One of my favorite thrash metal bands ever...not seem em live before, can't wait.

edit: Also going to the Graspop metal festival in Belgium at the end of June, Iron Maiden are headlining gonna be awesome.

actually, and this is a problem... I'm hearing that all their live shows are awful. Thoughts?

I'll still be there. I'm taking a cutie out, and she's psyched. I'd like to be comforted by lots of "oh, they're usually awesome!" and the like.

I heard it was an awful show anyway. :p

It was probably the worst I'd seen out of the four times I've seen them, but I wouldn't say awful. Who'd you hear that from? The only thing awful about the show was the mix for The Walkmen who were opening. Mud + vocals. Yuck.

I'm going blame the sub-par performance on the fact the show was Camel-sponsored. It was "sold out" but the venue was clearly under capacity inside (the back three or four rows of the balcony were sparse or empty and no one was standing up). This is all in stark contrast to the great show I saw them perform at the Riviera last fall which was fantastic.

The shows I saw last year were all great, but I definitely could see them being hit or miss. The biggest argument I could see for their weak show is they don't really do anything particularly special live.

Is the whole tour sponsored by Camel? You could tell a decent amount of the crowd had no idea who Spoon was or at least, they'd heard The Way We Get By on the OC and came across free tickets.

I just got handed a stack. I don't know any spoon fans, but I know fans of the Walkmen will be well represented at the gig.

I'm basically picturing "people who know people in entry-level PR positions, and who are not exactly crazy about this 'The Spoons', whoever they are".

What's more, Camel and American Spirit are both owned by R.J. Reynolds now, so I've pretty much paid for my ticket several times over by now.

Well, I hope it's a good show, but please don't let Joe Camel cloud your judgment. ;)

I had a good time at their lolla 07 show (that of which I saw... I don't remember exactly). The show was very fun and the music itself was pretty damn respectable. Regardless, it was fun to see Spoon.

This new info about their show sucking came from my new friends in the lolla forum crew. It might just be their elitism but that's what I heard....

GIGANTOUR

The lineup this year is:

Megadeth
In Flames
Children of Bodom
Job for a Cowboy
High on Fire

so yeah, I'll be attending Gigantour on April 22nd, 2008 @ Hammerstein Ballroom, NYC...

Coming up pretty soon. :D

August 6 - Park West - Chicago, IL
King Crimson
The first night of a three night stand at the PW, and one of the very first shows from the new lineup. Tony Levin is back, and Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree) will be the second drummer.

heading out to see deer tick and wye oak this evening here in lancaster... and in a couple weeks the new pornographers and possibly colin meloy in the same week :D

Spoon (with Walkmen and White Rabbits) at the Norva tomorrow night. Fucking psyched despite all this talk about them maybe not being all that good live. Plus, it's 18+, which is awesome because I"m old and cranky. ;)
