BRIDGEPORT, Conn.—Bridgeport police say they arrested a city man after his 5-year-old stepson brought 50 packets of heroin to school for show and tell.

Police told the Connecticut Post ( http://bit.ly/HYhtzj) that 35-year-old Santos Roman was arrested Monday when he went to the Barnum School to retrieve the drugs and found police waiting for him. He was detained on $100,000 bail on risk of injury to a minor and drug charges.

Police say the boy wore Roman's jacket to school Monday. When it came time for his show-and-tell presentation in the kindergarten class, the boy displayed bags of heroin. The teacher confiscated the drugs and told the principal, who called police.

It's not clear if Roman has a lawyer. The boy was put in state custody until other relatives could be located.

a 5 year old boy, wore his 35 year old dads coat to school....riiight, what are they a family of midgets?

I was like...how the hell does this guy's jacket fit his 5 year old son. Something doesn't add up. Even then, if you're doing or selling heroin, you should probably keep a better on eye on the heroin. Not judging the guy for having it, just saying he should be more careful with it with a child around.

This is such a bizarre story, not really sure what's going on there. But anyway you slice it, the stepdad looks to be an irresponsible twat, and now the poor kid's in the custody of the state. Which always ends so well...

If you ain't got enough candy for the whole class, then don't bring candy at all!

Although that would probably fuck up most of the school lol

Lesson for the drug-using parents out there: don't let your kids wear your clothes.

But I don't honestly understand all the animosity against the father.
He didn't do a good job keeping his drugs hidden, but then again he may not have expected his son to wear his jacket to school.
It's not like the father kept the drugs in the son's jacket.
It's not like the drugs were going to jump out of the plastic bags and into all the kids' noses.
It's not like they were flavored with chocolate, or packed in Mickey Mouse bags.

Without knowing more of the story, I would vote for a slap on the wrist - to make sure he does a better job of hiding his drugs in the future. But saying he endangered kids is pushing it, I think. The fuckers who pour pesticides on the food we eat and target kids with advertising for food that will make them obese later in life are endangering kids more, I would say.

Plus the kid obviously wasn't ready for Show & Tell. I mean he just pulled out what was in his stepdads pocket. That's kind of lame for Show & Tell standards. Did he even have much to tell? Did he know it was heroin?

Even though he wasn't prepared for Show & Tell the next kid would have a tough act to follow since the kid with the dope probably caused quite the commotion.

It's also slightly weird since even though coat might be needed in the morning it hasn't really been coat weather in CT lately. Maybe a windbreaker or light jacket or something.

How did the teacher know what it was right away? I never would have thought much of seeing a bundle of stamp bags before I actually did them and knew what they contained.

Yeah I'm wondering this too but then again she lives in bridgeport... Hahahaha.

Anyways wow this makes me shake my head. Yet since I'm from ct and have been to that city bunch of times it doesn't come as a shock that this would happen eventually. I just don't know how the hell someone would forget they have a brick in their fucking jacket... Then allow the kid to take it to school. I'd be chasing that kid down the block before he even left for school.

what if the dad was like "actually there should have been more bags than that"

*everyone turns to the teacher*

I don't give a shit if the father was a dealer - that's his own business. But please, if you have a five-year-old kid, you should make fucking sure that he's not touching your drugs, because that is dangerous to the poor kid. It's one thing if your son had gone sifting through your room, happened upon your drugs, and brought them to school - that would've been just really unfortunate for everyone involved. But if your kid brought your jacket full of heroin to class and then showed it to everyone, I'd wager that it means a) he had easy access to your drug-filled jacket, b) you weren't around to notice that he wore said jacket to class, and c) he knew that the drugs existed and were interesting enough to show to the class. The charges against him are too extreme, because of the whole drugs+children thing that gets everyone riled up, but he's clearly not in the running for the Father of the Year.

Mostly, I'm just really saddened that this kid is now in government custody because of this. I can't say what his family life was before this, but I doubt it'll be any better floating between foster homes for the next 12 years.

I'm not sherlock holmes but I can tell you exactly what happend

Father: "Son this is VERY bad stuff never touch it" -hides

Son: Finds, and brings to school. Takes dads jacket as excuse.
