Boulder DA dismissing small-scale marijuana possession cases in light of Amendment 64
Garnett will drop charges in cases involving less than one ounce

By Mitchell Byars, Camera Staff Writer
Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett

District Attorney Stan Garnett will dismiss all pending criminal cases of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, saying the overwhelming support for Amendment 64 in Boulder County makes it highly unlikely a jury would ever reach a guilty verdict in any of those cases.

A few years ago some friends and I were at the CU campus for 4/20 and happened to be standing next to the Fox 31 reporter assigned to cover that story. He explained to us that Boulder county considers littering to be a more serious offense than possession of small amounts of weed.

Really? That's the seriously coolest thing I've heard about weed from anyone in a long time. It would be so great if other places would start being as reasonable and responsible as CO.
