"Boredom" while tripping

While I occasionally trip for tripping's sake... I don't primarily trip because it's novel/entertaining/mind opening.

I primarily enjoy tripping, because it intensifies emotional/creative/mental stimulation experienced in whatever else you may be doing. Do what you'd normally do if you weren't tripping (and is safe to do inebriated)... it's far more entertaining. Playing games, watching movies, talking/hanging out with friends, drawing, writing, stargazing, listening to music, dancing... everything is just so much more profound, interesting, and fun.

You might be lacking excitement and enjoyment in your sober life. What im doing in the time leading up to a trip influences the positivity or negativity of the experience. You need something to reflect on during your trips and that comes from the things you do while sober.

Retrospectively, this is dead on. Every other time I've done hallucinogens, I wasn't in medical school. Now my life consists of hours of studying, sometimes 24-36 hours straight before an exam, but I love medicine so it's no problem...but it just doesn't really give you that "umph" factor during the trip that I needed. I do remember thinking about the pathology exam I just took, which did lead me to have a "psychedelic epiphany" about how amazing the human body is. Other than that I didn't really reflect at all on my sober life and felt like I was just...there

It might be time for me to just close the vault on hallucinogens.
Psychedelics, to me, aren't something just to take if you don't really enjoy them, unlike other drugs.
