Just wondering if anyone else has read this book.

I just finished reading it, and I can honestly say it's the greatest story i've ever read.
Essentially it's all about friendship, but it's spanned over about 30 years, from the late 70's punk era, to the present day. It's like a life story.
At times its side-spliitingly hilarious, at other times it almost moves you to tears, but the one brilliant aspect of King's writing is the exceptional level of detail and description he goes into.
But more so, it's just the way he tells the story. Through the eyes of an ordinary working-class bloke, who sees everything in it's true light, completely honestly.
You see how the main character grows and changes, you see how the way he see's everything changes, as you go through the 70's then the 80's ending in 2000.
I cannot describe how amazing thsi story is.
It'll change your life!

I read this book and I highly recommend it. John King influenced my style of writing alot.

This threads reminded me to check out some of his other stuff.

^^Glad someone else has read it.

Yes, I haven't heard what his other stuff is like, but I very much doubt he could top it.
Another thing, all the punk bands he mentions in the book, he really knows his stuff, it's obviously taken from his experiences. Sounds like a really interesting yet ordinary bloke. Would love to talk to him to see how much oh human punk was taken from his experiences. I wander if he ever had a best friend based on the character Smiles, or a friend who topped himself like that, or if he ever nearly drowned after being beaten up and thrown in a canal.....
