Body Load?

In my recent extensive reading of various forums on this site, I regularly come across the expression 'Body load' e.g. Use of this chem or other results in heavy/medium/minimal body load etc.

I confess however, to being confused. Some writers will describe minimal effects from a chem but then go on to say they did not like the heavy body load - and some other writers vice versa.

So my question is, what does 'Body Load' actually mean? I suspect contributors to various threads have different definitions/ideas on this, which has perhaps caused my confusion. What are your views?
 
Simply put "body load" means the drug's more tactile physical effects on your body as opposed to the effects on your mental state.

I guess I'll move this over to PD for you but I don't know if it will last there.

Yeh.. I've taken things which have made me feel all sorts of ways and I would say nothing has given me anything worthy of the definite description - 'body load'. Everything I have taken has given me an all encompassing feeling - IE what comes with the mind comes with the body and the world and the meaning ect. I can understand the expression of the body load and that some chemicals, when ingested, can bring about a very disjointed bodily feeling; however I think it is overused and the feeling in itself does not express the tone of the entire trip/buzz/blackout(lol) :)
 
-Body load- is not used to describe adverse physical reactions to drugs. It is a feeling (often (dependent on perception) uncomfortable) that comes when fucked on certain substances like (to name a few i have tried with distinct 'body loads') Hawaiian Baby Woodrose Seeds, 5-meo dalt, various 2cs, LSd infact.

It is a term for a very physical feeling that is alien and often motional.

^Well it would appear that the OP's thread is waranted then :).

From the drugs you listed I would guess the biggest issue is vasoconstriction.
 
When I say body-load, I am referring to the uncomfortable feelings I can get from drugs. Like mushrooms causing naseau and stomach cramps. On some occasions, the body-load I get from shrooms makes the trip not worthwhile.
 
yup, when i say body load i generally mean the uncomfortable physical sensations i get while tripping, usually on the comeup, but also sometimes during the trip itself. this varies a lot from person to person and substance to substance, but most refer to muscle tension, vasoconstriction, body temperature variations, gi tract discomfort, teeth grinding, lack of coordination.
i wouldnt say that psychological effects (like confusion, thought loops) are body load, though some times it can be tricky to separate them (is the nausea coming from the brain or from the stomach?)
 
motion sickness, best way i can describe it. like on a boat big ass waves, everything is moving up n down, left n right. then it happens, u get sick.. shits super intense when ur scarfing up moms spaghetti.. after that 15mins of bodyload(sometimes 30), u feel alot better, and the trip is more enjoyable.
 
Some body load issues have a quick and easy fix. Zofran (ondansetron), a prescription anti-nausea med, completely takes away any nausea I get from mushrooms without affecting the trip itself. It actually improves the trip greatly when I don't have to spend part of it fighting off nausea. It also works with anything else that might cause nausea (mdma, mda, some research chem tryptamines, etc.). I've tried ginger tea, cannabis, changing the route of administration, several other things, but nothing helped as much as a simple pharmaceutical designed for nausea.

never tried zofran before, i've tried Fenergan(sp), and that shit wouldn't help.. i took it orally.. never had a source to get it to IV it.. i'm sure that would be a hell of a lot better.

I've tried Tums, and end up getting sick while chewing them up. flavors taste fucked up when your bodyload is at its height. like, i chewed up some wildberry tums when i was starting to panic because my stomch was feelin all bubbly, and that tums made me spew my guts. overload.

i've tried looking straight in the horizion (like ud do when in a car), and lol that didn't work..

I havnt tried weed (because i get drugtested), m314 stated it doesnt work for him, but weed might work for others.
 
body load can be positive or negative,
ive never had a negative body load from mdma,
but ive had some on mushrooms,
its either enhanced tactile senses,
or a feeling of discomfort,
and no matter where you go or what you do,
it dosn't seem to go away,

Do you mean phenergan (promethazine)? That's an antihistamine that's very effective for making me sleepy, as long as I hardly ever use it. I've never had good results from antihistamines in terms of fighting nausea, though. Dramamine might help a little for motion sickness, but that's about it. Zofran is much more effective for me. It does come in ampules prepared for injection (to stop nausea that's already there), but I just get the pills. One 4 mg pill taken 30 minutes before the shrooms (or mdma or whatever) completely prevents the nausea from occurring in the first place. It lasts about 6 hours, so I only need a 2nd pill later on if I want to redose with whatever I'm taking that night.

Weed doesn't work for me when it comes to shroom nausea, but I still have it every time. These days I mostly just use the vaporizer or eat one of my cannabis capsules. For me, it tends to make almost any psychedelic experience better and more enjoyable. It does help some people with nausea, though. For those who get drug tested, some of the synthetic cannabinoids on the market now would likely have similar benefits.
 
in double blind studies fresh ginger was found to be as effective as dramamine/benadryl in allaying nausea, and it doesn't make you sleepy or effect the trip at all. i've found it to be very effective, just eat a few fresh chunks. the stuff is cheap and available.
for body discomfort, magnesium seems to help cut off the "edge" or jitters of some of the more stimulatory psychedelics. ginger + magnesium malate has become the pre-load of choice for me for all phenethylamines. if we're talking mescaline, throw in some caffeine too, for that little post-synaptic dopaminergic push :).
 
I always thought that body load meant that the drug made you feel as though your body was difficult to move and while movement was not completely impossible it would be a challenge.

I've had this happen while on mushrooms, after eating too much herb in food, and sometimes if I smoked too much of an Indica strain.
 
as I suspected when starting this thread, there is obviously no common consensus on what the term actually means. It is very much an individual interpretation. It's probably appropriate therefore to disregard body load comments in other threads and concentrate only on specific descriptions of effects where mentioned.
