California State prison will cultivate medical marijuana thanks to a new project from Damian Marley

Bob Marley's youngest son Damian Marley has announced that he will convert a prison into a cannabis factory.

Billboard reports that reggae artist Damian has teamed up with the company Ocean Grown Extracts to turn California State prison into a growth space cultivating medical marijuana.

"Many people sacrificed so much for the herb over the years who got locked up," says Marley. "If this [project] helps people and it's used for medicinal purposes and inspires people, it's a success."

Dan Dalton, Marley's longtime manager, adds of the news: "Cannabis is something that's around Damian every day with friends, family and with his Rastafarian faith. We've watched people who have sacrificed their lives for it. That injustice has motivated us to be advocates as well as knowing that there are healing properties in cannabis."

The funniest part about this is that Coalinga is NOWHERE near the Ocean.

I mean, closer than Kansas, but in California terms it's practically Kansas.

I think it's fantastic if they get prisoners to do some work in the natural world that helps people like this.
And, hard to imagine that nobody is going to pocket a bud or just swallow one as they work ;)
