Basically, yeah.

This show needed to keep Jimmy, as its only likeable character. It is still highly watchable, but disappointing when weighed against what it was supposed to become.

Rossetti seems like an awesome character.

I think this guy expected waaay too much of the first show of a season. Plot lines are getting set up and characters are being introduced. I'll bet you that when viewed in it's entirety, this season will invalidate the article.

Plus, how much attention should you pay to a critic that complains that a gangster show isn't feminist enough?

Boardwalk Empire was/is hyped to nearly endless extent. It has ginormous expectations. It was expected by many to be one of the greatest shows of all-time.

yeah, i mean i had pretty high expectations too, but i don't find the show disappointing at all.
i agree though that killing off jimmy might have been a wrong move, but that will depend on how this season plays out. i absolutely love this show, easily the best on HBO at the moment in my opinion.

Damn I forgot about the third season premiering recently

Watched the first two episodes and I think this season is going to be pretty awesome
Looks like we're going to get a lot more Chicago outfit and Luciano mafioso action which is fine by me

Less Margaret and the cheeldren would be good but whatevs
Oh yeah, and the Mr Harrow revenge will be sweet

Honestly I think this is the best thing to ever happen to the television set. The idea that the show can't go on without Jimmy is foolish. I can't remember a television program with such a solid lineup of interesting and invested characters. In my personal opinion, the writing, acting and production of this show sets a completely new standard for a television drama.

As an aside, they could have it go on for 100 more seasons, with actors from the year 2112 playing characters on the Jersey Shore, before I'll think it has run its course.

No but really, it is good.

I never watched much tv either but I was so fucking glad I did with The Sopranos, I've re-watched the series like 3 times now

Give it a chance, I promise you'll get drawn in quickly and won't be disappointed at all

I have such trouble remembering all the characters' names. I need Cliffs' Notes for the show. Or about 15 less characters.

Mr. Harrow- fucking flawless

Margaret Thompson/Shroeder- hand to mouth, she's phenomenally manipulative

I don't have much to add, but this episode was great. Nucky is off the rails about Lily.

This whole season has been great. I always hope Chalky is in every episode but sadly that doesn't happen. His storyline with the doctor & marriage to his daughter in the last episode was awesome.

As for this episode:
- I loved when Margaret pulled the puppet strings in order to get her women's health center. Classic.
- I don't know how much more I can watch 'George' live his sad, sad life. I was really hoping this would be the episode he finally said fuck selling irons, beat the shit out of one of his co-workers and went to work for the Northside crime boss.
- Mr. Harrow needs to find a girl, keep being gangsta and find some relief, for real.
- Nucky is going to get burned here pretty quick. It's inevitable.
