Boards of Canada!

Good call! I miss the boards of canada. would you mind if I posted a few choons on your thread?

 
My first album I bought from them....had one of the best nods of my life to this album, but even without drugs this is whats in my cd player in my car right now. Roygbiv always makes me happy, aquaris reminds me of drugs/kinda a porn song with the bass and guitiar samlple in it,lol, love those two...

Wasted Talent: I wanna say they are still around, remember (or think I remember) reading they had came out with something new not too long ago....
 
'Music has the right to children'. I don't know of anyone that doesn't like this album.
It does have 70's motif, maybe it's kinda musac music your thinking of. like creepy Elevator music.
Boards of Canada are actually from Scotland, in the borders; honestly I don't know if they've branched off into other stuff.
From what I know; they made their music in a program called Reaktor by Native Instruments.
Their second and third albums kinda got me down. I'll try and find some other tracks you may, or may not like.
 
Music Has the right to children is the only boards of Canada album that I have listened to through and through but I have done so several times. I have heard other songs I liked but never any specific albums all the way from beginning to end.
If you like these guys you should check out bonobo if you have not already. I love any IDM music!

Guess I'm just one of those unlucky bastard unfortunates without the ear for 'em.

I think it's their kind of blurry, distorted, murky, fuzzy, muddy sound that turns me off.
But, by all means, enjoy them if you do! There's no accounting for taste, right? :D
 
I was just thinking also, it doesn't really sound like anything else I've heard.
Sheesh even my sister loves this album and she's a Madonna, Kylie fan; go figure.
Telephasic workshop was the first one I heard, I think on John Peel Sessions. I have huge admiration for John Peel.
After the Future Sound of London pushed the first live set over ISDN; John Peel didn't go back to Maida vale studios and just sent a shed loads of records that he'd play... from his shed.
I'm not sure if the BBC released these live sessions, there was alot of talk before I-player came about that the entire BBC archive would be released to the public. Man that would be sample heaven or pure overload.

I also love them and like everything they've put out (didn't listen to the new one yet though), and I know that I am pretty alone with this, but in my opinion The Campfire Headphase is the best album they have released and it is truly outstanding to me. I like how they use guitars a lot and experiment more with sound design and production. Geogaddi comes next, then Music Has The Rights To Children.

I'm not exactly up to date, did the Boards of Canada release anything beyond 'Campfire Headphase"

Well, they released the Tomorrow's Harvest album which was on many best-of lists in 2013. From that album, "Reach for the Dead" was released as a single, but the single is hard to find by now.

I think Tomorrow's Harvest is pretty good. The atmosphere is--for lack of a better word--quite uniform, it makes for good listening in full length.

There are no real standout tracks, though. In that sense, it's not like Music Has a Right to Children, Hi Scores, or In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country, all of which contain at least one big "hit."
