Do some bluelighters like to go fishing? If so, where? I mean like fresh water or salt water? What species of fish do you target.

I live in south Texas. I only fish in fresh water and I like to catch crappie and white bass mostly. In the winter, I'll target some largemouth bass.

I fish from a boat in Medina Lake, Texas. I take my dog along with me. (he loves to go fishing)

Mostly I like the solitude. It gives me a chance to reflect on the week's activities and just chill out in general.

I like fishing on very cold mornings. I take a flask of bourbon and a couple of joints with me. I buy three breakfast tacos, two for me and one for the dog.

I fish for crappie because they taste good. I release everything else.

when i was growing up we used to fish on the mediterranean for these long thin bluish fish, I don't remember the name

i like to go freshwater fishing here for bream and crappie, they're the only ones worth catching in my opinion, bass fishing is for rednecks :) haha

I go freshwater fishin in the great lakes when I cans.........we get us everything in that thar lake huron. Lotsa perch round my hometown, and a whole bunch a other panfish.

Now that l lives in the wood dis here lake dun have nothing cept, yer panfish an yer bottom feeders

i will go fishing with a friend, but all i do is drink. i only carry a pole if my friends make me.

Yes... drinking is a major part of fishing for me too. along with smoking some weed and listening to some good music. I take along an MP3 player with those tiny ear bud headphones.

I fucking love fishing. Mainly saltwater here... I go for spot, sea bass, shark, sea trout, blue, and drum mostly. Also flounder, but that's a whole 'nother ordeal in and of itself. There's only one decent freshwater spot here, seeing as my house is half a mile from the ocean... I gotta drive approx. 45 minutes to the spot, but it holds some DAMN large catfish! :D

I use a Shakespeare 7' rod and Quantum Optix 4 bearing reel, 20lb test cajun line, and a double drop leader wherever, unless I'm using freshwater lures.

i love fishing on the lakes and rivers of central wisconsin. fly fishing from my canoe for small mouth bass and bluegills is almost therapeutic for me in that it helps me relax, slow down, think, and just genuinely chill.

i also like to ice fish. sitting on a big sheet of ice while drinking beer and listening to tunes. as long as the weather isn't too harsh, i can sit out there all day and bullshit with other fishmermen. it's a total trip listening to the old timers tell stories, most of them professional bullshitters. and nothing beats fresh bluegill fillets fried up in a pan with some butter.

oh man this thread brought back some serious memories....

i used to get up at 430 jamming led zepplin with my dad as we got in the boat and went fishing on the bayou in louisiana..

toledo bend rocks for fishing, if you ever get to go fishing in the bayou i highly recommend it..

on a side note, does anyone here like crawfishing?

I like to catch a few or I should say trap a few crawfish up near the rapids in the Medina River because they make excellent bait. I've caught some really nice sized largemouth bass on crawfish. It's pretty tricky to get a good hook set while using crawfish for bait. You need a pretty big hook, probably a 4.0 or 5.0 wide gap hook or when you go to set the hook, sometimes you'll pull the crawfish right out of the fish's mouth.

I love fishing. Freshwater. Fly fishing. I don't care for salt water or deep sea fishing.

I like to fish for Trout and Northern Pike. For Trout I know a few secluded rivers and streams not to far from my house where the fishing is pretty good. For Northern Pike I head far upstate with my father and we just chill out on a boat in the middle of a lake or river in the calm serenity that is nature, away from the city lights.

You and I should go fishing come this spring or summer bro. If you still got your Jeep and a hookup for a trailer on it I got a nice boat. We can load it up with beer and party favors and head to the middle of nowhere and just chill for a day or two on a lake.

Anybody else who ventures out into the saltwater do any crabbing? Bait and set your pots, then cast out on the poles... come home that night with several ginormous sea trout and about 3 or 4 dozen blue crabs... steam them bitches with 1 cup water, 1 beer and 1 cup vinegar, shit ton of Old Bay per batch... goddamn! =D

I loves to crab too. All you need is some chicken and some string and a net. MMMMM blue crabs cooked in beer with a side of beer.

besides being good to eat and good for bass bait, these damn crawdads make a good roach clip too. that little sucker held on to it all the way down to the fire.
