This is not an anti-Bluelight thread, but a pro-Bluelight thread, in that it represents the interests of the Bluelight community (although the concept that Bluelight is in the interest of its own community is not necessarily taken for granted, and indeed, disputed).

I invite you to read the following article on Computer Mediated Communication. Consider the following statement and apply it to certain sections of BL: "The actual content is meaningless; what is being exchanged is social validation." The Lounge, of course. All Social discussions, a lot of threads in SLR and even a lot of posts in the Drug Discussions of Bluelight.

What is it that YOU like about Bluelight, to want to return to it again and again? The addictive nature of social validation? I am personally disenchanted with this website and I want to go out with a bang, much like this except without the paranoid fury of a slighted attention-seeker. Instead I would like to go out with an intellectual flourish, and a spurt of jizzom just to show you what I think of the whole damn establishment.

So, you think I'm not serious? Maybe even trolling? How wrong you are -- why, I'm too nihilist and too punk for Bluelight any more. I humbly demand to be banned from Bluelight immediately.

A few last words: I'm only doing this because I care. I hope this sets a precedent for everyone who's wasted time on this site but has been too shy or lazy to stop the problem. I hope that future generations of ex-Bluelighters will be able to say, "LeoC inspired me". I sincerely thank you all for your attention.
 
This is very strange. LeoC, you might be the first bluelighter who really tries to troll (well, posts that he is trying to troll)omg in the lounge as well!but you just cant quite get there! You are a troll wannabe! Congratulations kiddo, failing at being a troll is quite the achievement.

But hang on, could you be another bullitznutz reincarnation? They easily check IP addresses these days, just the click of a button. Maybe you will get your wish.

Alternatively, you could just stop posting, or whatever.

Have the scary people in other forums started ignoring your tripe, so you need to come here and spew it forth? Sounds pretty well like the social validation you speak negatively of.

Do let us know what you're trying to convey; at the moment it's someone who isn't an Aus Social regular starting a thread in which he says nothing.

I agree for the most part. Most of the regular posters on this forum use BL for some sort of social validation. But then again, I don't see the problem with that. Thanks for pointing it out though because I'm sure we would never have noticed that on our own. :|
 
I'd like to clear a few things up. I'm not seeking attention here, but if you ignore me then you will be sorry. You see, my friends, this was going to be the thread that brought Bluelight crashing down upon itself -- the thread that tore the whole damn infrastructure apart from the inside. Q: Why do rats scurry from a sinking boat? A: I don't know, I'm not a rat.

I'm not going to respond to my detractors; I'm sure they'll see things from my point of view soon enough.

I think perhaps you underestimate how comfortable we all are with the fact that we spend hours on a message board looking for social validation.

So, you were aiming to help us see the error of our ways in our debilitating addiction to social validation, and in doing so, this would set us free from our need to visit bluelight everyday?

You could just as easily apply this statement to social interaction in real life. Should we withdraw from this too?

Funnily enough, most of the people I've seen leave bluelight 'with a bang', generally crawl back several months later. That's why I'm personally glad that autobahn is not a feature available in the newer version of the board software. In my time here I've seen very few people make a hugely public declaration about leaving and actually stay away. The posters who genuinely leave normally just fade away out of lack of interest.


I'm still not quite sure what your point is. Do you want to know why we keep coming back? Is this your exit thread? Are you hoping to shut down bluelight because of the knowledge you have imparted to us about why you think we post here?

I hope you're all really happy with how this thread's turned out. Let me share an anecdote with you about what inspired me to want to destroy Bluelight and heroically rescue all its members in the process. This is no laughing matter!

I used to be a merry, oblivious Bluelighter, probably a lot like you. But last night, something snapped. Something inside my head. I knew immediately what I had to do and set about doing it: the result was this thread. Just remember, I'm on YOUR side.
 
While I'm waiting for this thread to tear bluelight's infrastructure apart from the inside, do you mind if I go make a coffee or something? ;) ;)

j/k... clearly you're serious about this. I still don't get why. It's only the internet!

Hmm... now I don't even know what I found so hysterically funny about posting what I did. From an intellectual-analytical viewpoint, my posts are almost unintelligible, or at the very least they are impracticable. I now ask myself: do the members of Bluelight really want a hero, even if they seem to need one? What would be the point in single-handedly bringing Bluelight to its knees if the users could just conglomerate in a "New Bluelight", as it were?

Thanks for everyone's contributions so far: zephyr, Strawberry_lovemuffin, anna!, up all night, astrosmurf, shorza, katmeow, anarky, and nickyj. I'm not quite finished here, I'm just in a kind of stasis.

The 'establishment' (that you are so against) in this case works fine and actually helps out alot of people.


Most people have validated lifes outside of the internet, so why should they not receive social validation when they wish to spend some time on the net?


So what if you've eaten too much acid and are beginning to seek out inadequacies in humans.


Are you trying to be a hero and save us?.....Save us from what?......our own comfort?
