When I was young, I would go ice fishing with my uncles and grandfather, and would spend hours just staring into ice like DG's picture. Later I found out that if the ice froze quickly enough to trap air bubbles like that, it wasn't as strong as ice that froze slowly enough to allow the air bubbles to escape. But forget that, fast-frozen ice is much cooler to stare into

For some reason, public voting isn't working for me. And since I pretty much just rolled out of bed, I don't recall for whom I voted. It was either StarTripper, IAT or SA. Either way, it was a close call between those three for me this round. DG's, pennywise's and Jamshyd's captured the ice theme quite well, and tribal girl gets a +1 for getting a night fog shot that still manages to be so colourful. Atri's just looks so cozy!

Can you tell that I liked this round?

Hmm this is good to know. I took that picture in the middle of a frozen lake. Up in NH the lakes freeze solid all winter long. There are people who ice fish in the middle, you can drive clear across the lake to get from one side to the other instead of driving an hour on the highway etc.

Durr. Had I looked I would have seen that one name was different. -1 for posting right after rolling out of bed. Looks like IAMTHOUGHTS won my vote. 'twas close though.

thanks for the vote captain mysterio. at least there's one person who can recognise the sheer awesomeness of my entry. like for instance, it's at least a good 2kms from the top of frame to the bottom of that icefall.
