I've got some good solitude photos, but unfortunately RB, CC & pillsnapa have jumped in ahead with similar photos so I'll post something different.

But I dunno why I am posting, Finder is clearly streets ahead with this topic. Just awesome!

i can get a bag of those fake fall leafs they sell at craft stores ... i'll figure something out but please don't do a snow/winter theme

Good point about the theme, I guess this really favors the midwest states so I changed it to seasonal.

Hopefully this broadens the field.

hmm...it's telling me it's 480 x 640, but I'm not too good with this stuff. I'll try and fix it. Sorry!

edit: better? I changed it, but it's coming up the same size as before. I'll take it down if need be. Clearly I have no idea :D

I use irfanview or photoshop to reduce the size.

this gives people who take "squarer" photographs an advantage. wouldn't "height + width must be no greater than 1400" be more fair?

I don't think it gives anyone an extra advantage really. After you open an image up in irfanview, click on Image, then Resize, and set the largest number (width or height) to 700 and the program automatically resizes the other number appropriately.

Taller, narrow shots will still maintain their integrity, only on a smaller scale.
