Umm.... from the rules

Be reminded that this is a photo contest and so images which have been heavily manipulated through an image editing software will not be accepted. To put everyone on a level playing field, editing should be restricted to cropping and resizing.

Yeah, its funny because its a prety average old plant as plants go, looks aweful but then throws up these magnificient flowers.

Funnily enough, I tossed and turned the whole week between this shot and another god damn aweful looking plant called the Waratah. But once again the waratah is a spectacular flower....actually probably one of the worlds most spectacular.........but its of a rounded shape and hance a bit more similar to whats on offer already.
 
maz... Bird Of Paradise so reminds me of my grandma's place. We used to love those flowers when we were kids. So bizarre looking!
