I've been curious too, BA. Did you finally get your D40? It certainly looks like you're working with some nice equipment, although you've always had an exceptional eye to begin with.

And just out of curiosity, BA, which camera do you use?

Yep, I use a Nikon D40.

With that I use 3 different lenses.

18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
55-200mm f/4-5.6 with vibration reduction
50mm f/1.8D

Maybe I'll treat myself to a new Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8 or a wide angle 12-24mm this holiday season. :) I need a fast, "carry around" lens. I've really just started building the arsenal; tripods, diffusers, filters, etc. It adds up fast though.

^the 18-55 and 50mm are both good lightweight "every day" lenses, arent they?
you just want an exuse to buy another :D

i just took a look at that camera, not a bad deal, you can spend almost double that amount on a point and shoot digital with less than a quarter of the capablities

D40's are pretty much point and shoot with interchangeable lenses, my advice, save the money of your nice lens collection and update the body

Oh, do explain...?

Full manual controls, auto & manual focus, etc = "pretty much a point and shoot"?
Couldn't you make that same argument for any DSLR then?

all I'm saying is that you can get twice the resolution, plus more features in some of canon's "powershoot" series than the D40, however interchangeble lenses is a HUGE advantage IF your planning on uprgrading from the kit lens and eventually the body. But that whole rant is just rubbish, you could give ansel adams a disposable point and shoot and he could produce a better image than most people given a digital hasselblad. Nice equipment doesnt equal skill, it only opens the door for more creative outlets.

^ anytime my g/f tries using my camera she wonders why they come out black or fuzzy. prolly cus she shoots in manual mode indoors without adjusting anything, with no flash, and tries to focus it with the zoom ring.=D

pshh, what do you mean good equipment doesnt equal skill

im hope i get the "Canon PowerShot A650 IS" (12.1 MP) for christmas like i asked for. i need a nice pocket camera, and im a spoiled brat, only child.... so i think i will get it
