MazDan, the theme was specific - "Black & White (non-colour)". I made sure the part in parentheses to rule out any confusion. As mentioned in the previous round, a separate black and white (representing colours) round(s) would come later.

QE, I wasn't familiar with that, thanks for the link. :)

Thank you to those who voted for me. :)

I was sooo hoping to see a chess/checkers board too. I don't have one, or I would have definitely spent some time on some angles.

Oh, and my vote went to the very first entry - alasdair.

hahahaha.........thats incredible cos I only just went back and indeed your right. So mine would have been dumped.......lol.........ahh well, good thing i couldnt find that floor aye.....lol

I still think its open for your own interpretation though..........within those guidelines. And to me, black and white means black and white.:p

So where does the red rose come in then? :p

The way I see it the topic was Black and white. Not fancy photos. And from that point of view, frizz was the only one to really meet that in my opinion.
frizzantik's was arguably the most fancy photo, my friend, technically speaking. (I liked the originality too, btw)

Just pointing out some uhmm... contradictions in your reasoning.

;)

Regards the red rose...........if you read what i said in the first par, I mentioned mine would have been dumped.........lol.

And re fancy.........I guess that word is open to interpretation to then cos while I loved the flame and the drop and the time lapse one just to mention a few, they are what I consider fancy.

I guess cos i felt they were relying more on the fancyness to get them through than they were on the black and white.

bah, I dont care, it makes sense for me and thats all that matters so..........mer mer mer.

lol

it's kinda a shame so many people interpreted the theme in the same way -- specifically that black & white meant 'gray scale'

the theme was specific - "Black & White (non-colour)"

if you went to a photographer and asked for a black & white photo of yourself, i think you'd probably be quite surprised if he took that literally, wouldn't you?

as alasdair says, the term black & white (meaning gray scale) has been in common use since photography began.

so how about the 'Blue' round - should blue have been the only colour in the photograph? :)

felix, Im sorry but thats wrong.

I have a right to interpret the theme in any way I want to. Just as each of the people voting have a right to interpret it anyway they want to.

I have no knowledge nor interest in the rights and wrongs of photography, Im just like a martian that has just landed.........I interpret it the way i think it is......doesnt mean its right but its not wrong either.

first of all, i'm not 'wrong', but i agree with your second point.

it just felt that there were a few of you implying that the vast majority of entries here were 'wrong', that's all.

now just accept when you're beaten and go suck on a railroad spike. =D

when's the Graffiti theme? ;)

felix may be wrong but he aint wrong.

and his image had, imo, the best composition, contrast and range. nice one mate.

but no one liked my washed out apec piece of crap :(

What I meant was that your wrong for trying to tell me how I should interpret it.

Ahh whatever...........I will keep my thoughts to myself in future or just act as a sheep and vote for whatever the populace votes for.

Congrats to our winner, alasdairm! It was a close race among a few for a while, then suddenly alasdairm rocketed into the lead. No doubt he must have walked into an internet cafe with a wad of $5 bills and sporting that "Pay per Vote" t-shirt. =D ;)

Good show, everyone!
