Regardless, I like that shot. Nice use of the blinds. :)

I was going for the artsy/retro/50's/fibro/housing commision/worn/sepia look. :)

^Holy shit, it's like one of the rooms from SawII 8o

All the sharp implements I mean. You would open that window with great care!!

^^
LOL!
Incidentally, it rarely gets opened.
It does somewhat resemble a rack of torture tools. :)

The sepia effect in my shot was a setting on my camera not a photoshop job.

but what about people who don't have a sepia filter on their camera? aren't they now at a disadvantage?

i'm sorry, i'm not trying to be a dick, but following the line of reasoning that is used to make the other rules, sepia really shouldn't be allowed. i don't personally care if your photo stays in the running. i'm just trying to understand the contest rules a bit more clearly.

i suppose the exception to this would be if one of the contest themes was 'sepia' ( which would, incidentally, make a good theme :) ).

equipment will always automatically create disadvantages.

i, for one, use a camera phone knowing full well that i am automatically disadvantaged by it. so what? these comps are for fun.

In the spirit of fun, we need rules that will not only keep things as fair as possible results wise, but also participation wise.

The distinct line already drawn in the sand being do whatever you can at the moment of the photo being taken and NOTHING (apart from resizing or cropping) afterward is, i feel, fair and reasonable.
This is even though the majority of my competiton will be advantaged over me in this regard. I don't mind. Who needs equipment when you've got "the eye" ;)

btw: do not refer to my current entry as an example of my "the eye". :p

^ Could do with a liberal sanding and a coat of paint my friend.

It would take away the character of the house if all the shutters were neat..

But.. I do need to replace alot of them sadly...:(
