Bluelight weekly photography contest Round 132: A Room In Your House : POLLING

And the winner is...?!

  • Total voters

  • Poll closed .
Well, all kidding aside, if anyone was dumb enough to take this bet with you, you win. Pet peeves will be hearing about this. I have entered this silly contest three times and not gotten a single vote. Granted, there have been some good photos entered, but not one vote? Some downright mediocre photos have received votes here and there.

I suspect like many things in life, some of it comes down to a popularity contest. I noticed that the people who get votes often seem to be those who are popular on the site and have been here a long time.
haha. you want the truth? your photograph this week sucks. all you did was turn around in your seat and press the button. it's out of focus, cluttered, there's a light fitting just annoyingly THERE in the top corner, and you haven't given a second's thought to the composition.

i can't imagine anyone thinking that your photo was the best out of this bunch. sorry my friend, but that is the truth. :D

(btw: cool pictures!)

Well...

Maybe the picture is a bit out of focus. That is my camera's best setting. It was purchased in the year 2001. I guess it isn't up to par.

I don't know the first thing about composition.

Is the contest about the most interesting picture, or the greatest photography skills? I didn't think to turn lights off or on back when I took the photo. I was just tryign to capture the room.

Also, what do you mean by "cluttered?" I think that you have shifted from photography technique to the content of the photo. The point of the photo is that the walls of my rooms are interesting and covered with different kinds fo art. I would hardly call that "cluttered," especially since I am a neurotic neat freak who keep everything in its place.

Also, I was referring to these contests as a whole, not this one in particular.

Anyway, I don't really understand photopgrahy from a technical aspect. What is so impressive about the photography in the winning photo? Granted, it's a nice room, but I am not sure I see the skillful photography there.

Edit -- I looked back over the photo, and it does indeed suck, at least from a technical standpoint.

I looked at some of the other ones I took and they all suffer from poor lighting and glare issues. The frames are the really cheap variety and they have a lot of problems with glare and reflection. I can't see a good way to capture any good shots of these walls. It's a shame because most people do find the walls interesting.

bummer.

^^ Ahh don't worry too much about it Fjones, it's all just a bit of fun.
I suspect that once you enter a few more times and get more of a feel for what people like in a photo, you'll get some votes :)

Congrats negrogesic!!

nah. Felix is right. My camera sucks and my photography skills are lacking. I don't know to take a good photo. Maybe something outdoors will be better.

I am not sure I understand the topic for the next contest.

It means to take/post a photo representing either your or someone else's Bluelight name. Check out some of the entries so far to get an idea and if it still doesn't make sense let me know! :)

Oooh congrats negrogesic. I lost out to the best photo for sure, but technically I still kinda won, because I voted for it as well :D

Thanks for the votes folks.

@ Fjones - although I had a more than decent turnout this week, there have a been a good few of mine that got nada votes. I've even been requested to send a larger size & told by others it was now their new wallpaper. Nothing! Zip! Zero!

I used to think there was some underlying dodgy shenanigans with votes many moons ago, but I'll also guarantee you that my 7 votes never came from being popular :\
