vegemite on raisin toast for breakfast ftw

Vegemite is brutal stuff - strips the skin from the roof of my mouth. It could be used as a very effective implement of torture. Having said that, it is rather nice if spread thinly on buttered toast. It's mainly Marmite in the UK which is marginally less painful. Both full of vitamin B and very good for you too .

I have been warned by someone who worked at the factory not to eat it! Apparently if you knew what went into it you wouldn't eat it?
This is what he said, he didn't give me details incase I wanted to keep eating it ! ! It's put me off I don't buy it anymore (*_*)

eNod and I are both super curious now and gonna go out looking for vegemite today, theres a specialty store around here that might sell it. :D I'm excited, all you aussies always go on and on about how great it is, you better be right!

Haha hmmmm be warned everyone, it's an acquired taste. It's like anchovies, people hardly ever LOVE them at first, it takes a bit of conditioning to love it :D

Ha! I thought Spork was joking about it being illegal - that's really quite funny. If any foodstuff were to be banned on safety grounds then Vegemite would be high on the list :D.

Vegemite is yeast extract. There are other brands of yeast extract. We have "Marmite" here in Canada...

Update: We did find some (vegemite), right at the store we expected it to be at. The girl at the counter was suprised, she said they used to not be allowed to carry it because of it being illegal to import. I guess its legal now? Anyway, we tried it, its not bad, I like it, and eNod loves it!

Nah, Vegemite tastes really salty, it's fantastic with heaps of butter on white toast. *droooooooools*
