fb1: its probably not that you are too nice, it might just be that you want something more then just a casual fuck, and you might have felt some sort of connection with this girl, and your subconcious realised that if you had just had sex with her straight up then you wouldnt be able to take this further, it would be just sex and no more.
IMHO you have to create some sort of bond, and friendship with a person, before you get serious, and get down to the good shit like sex, because if you do all the good stuff straight away then what have you got to look forward to.
this is only my view on relationships, i think having casual sex is fine, but i dont think that someone you meet and fuck straight away, is someone that you could get into a serious relationship with

Me for one thinks one night stands are wrong... hates 'picking up' unless i really like a person or have wanted something to happen for a while and have had time to think about it, and because of these reasons is very celebate... hmmm... my morals kinda suck for me in some ways... but i guess its my choice hey :)
I got over the drunken pick up thing ages ago and ive done my worst i think :) that kind of thing brings no joy to my life :)

The sex is just a distraction... having regular sex when you're single makes it very easy, cushy and comfortable but I don't think it makes you value a "real" relationship any less, in fact, because you have the sex, you don't push yourself into relationships out of desperation or horniness.
SOOO very true!!! IF only it wasn't true, damn being able to mentally distinguish and differentiate between great fun and a physical expression of love. While great when you are just fine and dandy being single(fuck buddies rock! end comment), they make the flaws of potential relationships all the more obvious and irritating when someone has the 'potential partner' sign illuminated. (hence long periods of singlness - damn sexual contentment!)
Solution? Fuck buddies that you're great mates with, that push you to find that truly special other to share your life with. ( me unrealistic...? naa ;)

I think that life is made more difficult if you have to mind set that all you really want is someone else there with you. If you set about your life and have fun regardless of your status, then time will seem to pass more quickly when you're in between relationships, imho...

oh no. it goes in phases. you can have fun regardless of your status and it gets you NOWHERE. you can be not looking and having fun and it gets you NOWHERE. you can be looking as hard as possible meeting as many people as possible and not saying no to any possiblity and it gets you NOWHERE.
