I just don't understand why people add each other since there's no benefit to doing so except to show other sad forum drugfucks how popular you are since since it's made official that your buds with all the cool cats. It's like marriage: It serves no purpose except to piss your mates off by making them watch just how in love you are when really no one gives a fuck. The parallels continue with marriage as the price for your vane look-at-me no one gives two fucks about it is high. So with marriage you've got the monetary costs, the gov is now part of your love life and it's messy if things go to shit, making a shit situation shittier and for the privilege you paid. The friend system as I see also just invites trouble as if something goes awry I'm sure that the gov can use your e-friends as convenient method of establishing who you're in communication with.

so why the fuck?
 
You can restrict PMs to that group, this seems to be the only tangible function apart from the obvious ego massage ala FB friends list

Friend request sent to Evey. I don't need a hug I thoroughly enjoyed that rant. I could do a short essay on how shit marriage is - I feel quite passionate about it. I'd marry my hate for marriage.
 
I've had a few friend requests from Greenlighters, in the past two days. I've no idea who they are, but I assume they're after something. I thought Greenlighters couldn't send PMs...

Well other added benefit besides PMs, is if you head to your profile you'll see any posts that your friends have made lately.

Apart from that it's purely a social group dynamic ego thing. Love it. Or a means to let someone know you rate their posts but you're too much a lazy cunt to engage them in conversation.

I'll scroll through it sometimes and come across posters that aren't around anymore (or died..) that I'd forgotten about - nostalgia ftw.

Nice to see you around DS anyway! Still rocking the best avatar around <3
