Bluelight and the Aussie Internet Filter – Will it affect us?

Haha, i take it that you're saying that as an ex-4chaner? Considering your name and all..

I've dabbled. A mate of mine in the finance sector is thoroughly addicted though. Whenever we catch up for dinner, there's alot of 'sup dog, we heard you like...' back and forth. And I can't deny having a folder full of hilariously politically incorrect pictures on my computer, somewhere.

If the list is on the site I think it is, its gone down.

Can someone please confirm this. cheers

Vauge... I'm unsure. It was on a site that is off shore, so i don't see why it went down. This site i was on, has an IP adress as its web address.

I wonder if a large portion of those gay sites are child porn related? I didn't have the balls to click any of the links, but just looking at the URLs they just look like regular gay porn, and there is plenty of regular, legal straight porn there as well.

Point being, if there's a significant amount of legal gay porn there, the gay rights activists will have a field day.

Yeah hopefully. Most of the articles on major media websites seem to hold fairly positive sentiments and make mention of the number of completely legal websites on the list. Hopefully this thing snowballs and we see a large fuss being made.

Sounds like the same one.

edit: just hope it was up long enough for the various media to get a hold of it. and then make life hell for the Government.

Hey can someone PM the link to the list? cant seem to find it on google.

PS I suggest some of you save it as I can see the sites being taken down.

Some of them already have been taken down/otherwise gone down, or so it would appear.

No way I'm saving that shit to my harddrive lol.

Looks like this is going to degenerate into a complete farce for the government if the story in the "themorningbulletin"is anything to go by.
Extract from story

"But most of the websites listed have no obvious connection to child pornography, including various online gambling sites, as well as Christian and other religious sites.

A Queensland dentist and a tour operator also appear on the list.

The list also contains satanic websites and gay and straight porn sites, as well as euthanasia sites."

I wouldn't say 'most', porn urls are the majority, though you have to wonder how many of them are actually illegal. But there's definately a noticeable amount of completely legal sites on there, which is rather disgusting.

Yep, had a little chuckle when the newspaper story said that "Christian and other religious sites" were on the list. I can't imagine why.

Haha. I guess that's the next logical step 'thats not our list!' Sounds like a load of BS.

Great quote from a friend of mine:

Not quite as simple as that.

The wikileaks article mentions that the list they've received most likely has extra items because of:
1 - duplicate entries
2 - multiple similar entries for the same domain
3 - items that are placed on the list by the filter producer from which the list was leaked.

So while the list is not (and wasn't really claimed to be) 100% accurate, it's still reasonable to believe that the majority of listings are from the AMCA.

Regardless of the legitimacy, the list exists, it's being used, it is given to third parties who produce filters and if it hasn't just been leaked it will most certainly will be leaked one day.

The list has already provably been used to censor political speech (an activist had an anti abortion website banned) and therefore can be used to do so again in the future. When this was proven (admittedly recently) there was no action or even talk of action to prevent such misuse from happening again.

Finally, I'd trust some random guy at the pub more than I'd trust senator Conroy. He says it's fake, but he won't show us the real list or give us any indication of what's on it.
