If we're talking about blue lily, then I'm fairly experienced with using this plant. For me it does not have psychedelic effects. Although mixing it with wine will cause you to get more intoxicated that you might without blue lily in it, I don't like the effects of alcohol so I don't use it this way.
My favorite use of the plant is as an aphrodesiac. In combination with passionflower vine and damiana it has proven itself reliable to get me in the mood, which is what a true aphrodesiac does. In addition, I find my erections are much more firm. Being in my 40's and dealing with chronic low grade depression I need help sometimes. Here's my recipe for love potion #9:
2 parts blue lily
1 part passion flower vine (leaves and stems, flowers if you got em)
1 part damiana
Grind these up in an electric coffee mill, cap em up and viola!
Also, I find a tea made with blue lily synergizes amazingly while under the influence of gabapentin. Blue lily and chamomile really bring out the best in gabapentin.
