Blue Ice Cubes (Shroom Ice)

I like my mushrooms. I'm a big fan of the shroom. I often freeze dry mushrooms and then take them and chop them up (roughly - don't chop into a fine powder) and filter them through water over about six hours. In the end you have blue water. Discard the mushrooms and drink, with a pinch of lemon or pineapple juice. But that takes effort. When you want to trip you have to defrost and soak, etc.

Recently I've started filling ice cube trays with blue water. If you drop two blue ice cubes in any drink it becomes a fairly heavy trip. I don't know if people already do this. I just discovered it and I haven't missed a season in 8 years.

Definitely my new favorite way to preserve and consume shrooms.

Love.

I never understood why people just don't eat the things. Far too much fussing around.

Maybe because some people don't like the taste of shrooms, or the fact it'll cause less general nausea, or that it's (if done properly) an easy way to measure out a dose.

& this is coming from the kind of guy whos only drank tea once, I like the taste of dried mushrooms, weird I know.

I dont like the fact you have to be near a freezer to keep them preserved.
The convenience of having them ready at a moments notice in dry form is still the best imo.
But I like the way shroomies taste too and i never get nausea.
Have always been interested in preparing a liquer/tincture.
Cool idea though bro may give it a wack some day

I always used to just eat them. For years. But I don't know, they taste like shit (and leave a long after taste), make your breath stink, get stuck between your teeth, etc. These days I'd prefer to just drop a couple of ice cubes in my drink (I tend to trip at home mostly so proximity to a freezer isn't really a problem).

Also the logic "I don't know why people don't just eat them" could apply to practically anything. Why not just eat garlic cloves instead of making a meal? Why bother aging wine or bourbon? Why decorate your house? Why synthesize heroin? Etc.

It's really not that difficult to understand.

You might like eating the mushrooms. You might like eating raw oysters.

Some people like Kilpatrick (despite the incredible amount of effort that it requires to prepare).

Anyway, to answer the questions:

I generally soak about a quarter of a cup of roughly chopped dried shrooms in about a cup of water for six to eight hours. You will notice the water turn blue. Drain it, discard the shrooms and fill up an ice cube tray.

(^I have a fairly high tolerance so work out what is good for you.)

It's not like any of those things at all. You add garlic to meals, or age wine/whiskey to improve its taste, because that's it's primary point, to enjoy & savour the taste. The point of mushrooms are the effects, not the taste. They really don't taste that bad & if dried you're only eating a few g. Ayahuasca tastes bad, cactus tastes bad, mushrooms are a walk in the park.

The decorating & heroin analogies make even less sense. Decoration is an aesthetic choice & people make heroin because it's a better high than morphine - neither have anything to do with faffing around preparing mushrooms.

because people are different and react differently

personally, i need much more than what most people take to get where i want

and that's too much material to stomach
i've developped a gag reflex that pretty much prevents me from eating slightly bad tasting mushrooms

on the other side, a mushroom tea takes maybe 10 minutes to reduce the mushrooms in powder and 20 minutes to brew
(you really don't need those 6 hours. little material is lost if you don't heat it too much)

then add sugar or whatever and you can drink it in a minute without any nausea or vomiting

the effects also come up more quickly for me this way

tea all the way!
(well, of course if you just need 1 dry gram or so, you can as well swallow it)

Eating the mushrooms straight up is just quite simply an inferior method. It results in much more of a body load, as the fungi are hard for your stomach to digest. Other methods (lemon tek, tea, said ice cubes) take away much of the anxiety and provide a more direct, clean psilocin experience.

The heroin thing does make sense in a round about sort of way. ie. Why bother preparing/processing raw plant material? Why not just smoke/eat opium?

There are many reasons people like to prepare things and consume things rather than just eating them raw.

Garlic has medicinal (and obviously nutritional) properties. You could consume it on it's own. Sometimes I do. Anyway, the point is many people like to mix garlic in with their food. I actually quite like the taste of magic mushrooms when they're mixed into a complimentary meal or beverage.

Shamans typically did not consume raw plant materials alone. Throughout history different nations have found ways of making preparations from hallucinogenic compounds.

Cryptix brings up a good point. If you eat a lot of shrooms, you are likely to feel a little queasy with all that fungus in your stomach. It's happened to me many times.

The decorating your house thing doesn't make very much sense.

I guess to me your attitude is: Why prepare mushrooms?

And: Why decorate your house? (or why not just eat raw cup mushrooms rather than making a nice salad) is an equally ridiculous question.

It's a little close minded to decide that this plant/fungus whatever must be consumed raw.

I mean, why?
