I love my dad, and I hate to see what 40 years of tobacco smoking has done to him and continues to do. His skin is grey, he’s lethargic and unfit, and it's ruining his overall healt, etc. etc. Like all who smoke 20+ a day, he is a slave to it, it rules his life.

So in an effort to get him to quit because I care so much about him, I am considering an extreme measure which is to say to both my parents that I will be closing off all contact until I am told that he has quit. I’m not sure about how long minimum yet but probably 6 months +.

Now of course you’re probably thinking, “it’s his decision, it’s up to him, it’s his life, it’s not my prerogative etc.”. That may be the case, however I feel he never will quit otherwise and I know he would be so much happier without the shackles of a tobacco addiction. If I go ahead with this I shall report back as to whether or not it was successful. (I'm 25)
