It's not just you TLB, I didn't mean to offend you specifically. It's this whole attitude of everyone against the police/BLM protests, where it seems like people are always trying to make it seem more justified than it is each time. With Floyd, it was "he has a history of drug use, and he just bought something with a fake $20 bill". Like, these flimsy reasons for murder, that somehow make it less bad and attempts to show that there isn't really a problem severe enough to justify prolonged protests. At least that's what it seems like the angle is when people state these various flimsy justifications for making specific murders less wrong.

Maybe this particular case is not like many of the other recent ones, and she was shooting at cops, I don't know, but I see this pattern of conversation happening every time.

And yes it would absolutely be a tragedy if any of the cops were shot, too. There's a complex issue, and I feel bad for both sides, which are mostly each made up of scared people trying to survive. But the victim-blaming rhetoric doesn't sit well with me.

Breonna Taylor and her boyfriend are the two that were ambushed, not the cops. They issued a no knock warrant on two people who were sleeping . The warrant wasn't because they were directly implicated in a crime.

Well, apparently now that the facts are coming out, the cops DID knock and announce themselves and the guy in the apartment opened fire on the cops FIRST. Sounds like an ambush.

you say facts...that's interesting. Reporters have been canvassing her apartment building for months and all but one person say they heard no announcement whatsoever.

There's a bit more here to respond to. It will stick in my craw like something Deru (or Jess?) said earlier about how any killing immediately gets put into a 'yeah, but....' light. Even Floyd as an easy example = enough Fentanyl he'd be dead soon anyways and the coroner said it would have been written off as an OD, getting no attention. Yeah, that sucks and he chose to ingest enough drugs such that it would kill him...he took that risk. But...he didn't die from that. It certainly didn't help his situation, but ultimately he died from the cop on his neck. The COP killed him, and even if Floyd was resisting....it was unwarranted action by the cop. Bah, there's more here I want to reply to, but can't as yet. Damn job.

yeah, and sadly the shit is going on like less then 2 miles from where i live. it's been pretty fucking crazy here in Louisville. there has been some serious rioting, had an army of thug blm bikers that came armed, and also some like trump supporters. so it's been fucking nuts.
the city has been barricading streets, blocking roads, parking dump trucks around the courthouse. not to mention the national guard has set up an operations center not far from all of this.
they are going to release the verdict this week, and from what they are preparing, it doesn't look good.

There will be riots no matter what. I'd leave the city for a while.

Is there any way that the detectives who put together an erroneous search warrant can be charged? Negligence maybe? Failure to do due diligence?
What about the judge who approved the search warrant?
What will the feds do?

well since after the verdict people have been protesting, caught a few things on fire near the court house, and since the mayor issued a state of emergency there was a 9pm curfew, so everyone kind of cleared up then. a police officer was shot tho, and from what i gather they wern't killed.
i showed up to work around 11:30pm and there were police all over the place, i do have a piece of paper from my boss stating that i am an essential worker so incase i were to get stopped.
the building has been on shelter in place, meaning that no one really comes or goes, and pretty much what that means on 3rd shift is no one can come in to check into the detox facility.
had an issue about an hour or so ago, guy that wanted to come in became aggressive and violent towards me because i wouldn't let him in. he started to use the 'its because i am black' card which is really fucked up. so yeah, this isn't the first time i've experienced this. seems like whenever i tell someone no, or for them to try back later, they assume it is because of the color of their skin.

so yea, just hope it wont get bad.
