Local bitcoins are selling btc cheaper than the SR exchange rate, and bittylicious is selling roughly about the same, does this mean you get more for your money? Strange.. they always seemed to be way over SR exchange rate
 
if just buying with btc, it doesnt really matter what the exchange rate is, since you can end the transaction same day and prices are set with real money, using btc only for the transfer.

for investment purposes... well, who knows really? :-)
 
wow! I remember when i first started buying, they were @ $4.xx. But one time i lucked out. I Bought about $100, had to wait to confirm account. And I was just having some fun somewhere else. Not on the computer that much, And when I finally received my coins. I had $300. So I had LOADS of fun for a very long time. I love when that happens. But the current prices @ $137. I don't think it'll keep going up much more. But then again, people said the same thing when it was @ $107, so who knows.
 
Does anyone know where I can buy bitcoins.. at a cheapish price, without having to vertify myself

I used to use bittylicious, but now thats £10 over for every bitcoin than the real price

And I want to buy maybe 5 bitcoins... so I don't wanna be loosing out on £50

Please could someone link me to a website that meets my standards?
 
How can you tell the difference between a Bitcoin that has been freshly mined & one that has been bought? I regard the mined coins to be more desirable due to the anonymity ....

Is it worth getting a jalepeno or are they obsolete now? I notice those usb miners are going 1/3 cheaper on ebay than they were a month ago.
 
Do I need an ewallet to buy bitcoins?

Was looking at bitbargain, they seem to be about 86quid each, anyhwere cheaper?

Is there a comparison site?

I only want to buy enough to do a transacton in the next day or so, need a few bits and all local sources dry or shit.
 
I did hunt around a while back for a decent wallet place now that instawallet has gone, but couldn't find one. Anyone?
 
yeah as ptch says, you just transfer your coins from one site to another, and spend them. A 'wallet' is just a term invented for where your coins are stored on the site where you bought them and then you transfer them to your 'wallet' thats just a code of numbers and letters on a site where you might spend them. You can have your own wallet on your own encrypted external memory stick if you wanna go all techy.
 
I go straight from localbitcoins to SR, then store any leftover btc's in my Bitstamp wallet. You can probably leave your coins in SR but I feel better about moving them to a (I think) more secure location in Bitstamp.
 
Atlantis that other website, with the youtube advertising etc Has fucked off with everyones money, just closed up and took probably a hefty amount, vendors money + users.

Got me thinking though it was probably a scam all along, it was said to have like 10% of the market share or something, that took quite a large amount. Guess thats the risk you take though.

On the forums for the "other place", the owner of Atlantis said he was giving everyone a week to withdraw their coin, did that not happen then?
