you can buy stuff with bitcoins regardless of where you are, where you get things shipped to is up to the person selling.

Do I drop £300 on a mining rig or not hmmmmm.

waste of money, it would take you something like 9 weeks pool mining 24/7 with a 300 quid gpu to recover your costs, and that doesn't include the electricity required, which isn't an insignificant expense. Purpose built high speed hashing hardware is going to appear in the next couple of months which will make mining with a regular GPU even more of a pointless endeavour.

Fucking hell. It's surely got to start going back up soon? I've got 1 bitcoin in my account just now. I'm not really arsed about the price drop as I didn't really pay for it. .5 was left over from ages ago (when they were like £7 each) & the other .5 was a gift. I just want to spend it though & there's no point right now.

The prices are weighted against the dollar on "that site" though arent they?

Give it a few hours and the prices on the site should adjust accordingly.

The prices will adjust so that my 1 bitcoin buys me like £30 worth of stuff. I want the exchange rate to sort back out so my 1 bitcoin buys me £100 worth of stuff. Getmeblud?

I know that the prices adjust so that if you're buying bitcoins & spending them immediately the exchange rate doesn't matter too much. It's the fact that I've already got 1 sitting there that's the issue.

Ah I see. I always just buy straight away. I can't see it going back up to be honest. It's been steadily falling the last few days. Hope it does go back up for you crackhead.

If they are currently worth more than 7 it is worth it. That way you cant loose anything. You could end up waiting for an increase tht never happens, and the price keeps plummeting.

I think the time to make some real cash has gone, when they was like a fiver, and went up to 120 quid,
Couldnt they just make a currency like bitcoin with one exchange, with a constant price?

it matters to vendors tho, if they take a plummet while you waiting for them to release coins, you're gonna lose cash.

Fuckinggggg another Bitcoin exchange has stopped taking customers from the UK (Blockchain), got to be the goverment making the banks take a stance... Thats Barclays out the window for me now then.

Yes.

1 bitcoin is worth £44.99 according to that exchange rate.

The last bit is wrong though, I don't know where you've got that from.

Edit - I do, it's the other way around on the bottom half. So £10,000 is worth 222 bitcoins.

Exciting Stuff.

Anyway I used this website, its just a load of people who are online, you buy coins in escrow and get them within 20 minutes, got mine in 3. Watch out for people taking the piss though, half the people selling coins on there are well over the average mtgox rate..

Absolute a year ago I had 176BTC that were worth pennies. Sold them for virtually nothing, if I'd waited until the day of the crash I'd be sat on 30k right now.

That's IF I could ever withdraw the money.

Bloody hell. This Bitcoin lark is both baffling and fascinating at the same time.

Heh, I'm not too worried. Sure a dodgy exchange might say I have 30k sat there, but that "office" they dwell in is probably a 17 year old kid in a basement. I know someone who mined a load when they first started, his first payment of 17k was accepted - bank frozen for fraud and it when it was opened up again the other 35k has taken 3 months so far. hmm.
