Harm Reduction binaural beats and drug withdrawal.

I had an idea/thought/theory that I'm looking to get some insight into.

Ok, so there are things called binaural beats by definition "Binaural beats, or binaural tones, are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, caused by specific physical stimuli" - wikipedia. They claim to have many effects that depending on the beats/tones can induce different sensations, like feelings of relaxation, intoxication, etc. There are binaural beats that claim to mimic the effects of different drugs i.e. heroin, cocaine, lsd, marijuana, etc.

I've tried one before, can't remember which one it was (I think it was LSD), and it basically just made everything sound all weird and echo-ey for a while..

Well I was wondering, that if these indeed do work, could they be helped to alleviate the symptoms of withdrawal? Say you're going through heroin withdrawal, and you go and listen to a heroin feeling inducing binaural beat, could that help with the withdrawals?

Anyway, if anyone has tried these binaural beats and had effects, what's your opinion/standpoint on them? Did they work for you? Did they induce the feeling that they claim? And do you think that this could be used as a HR technique for coming off drugs?

I mean, I know that if it did work I doubt it would be highly effective, but maybe it could help just enough to get a person going through withdrawals to be able to cope..

I don't know, it's just a thought I had.

no, just no.
I usually listen to binaural beats while meditating because I can rarely experience full silence in my house, and with them I have something that doesn't let me hear all the annoying sounds around me and is at the same time monotone and doesn't distract me like actual music does (it can even help you focus, even though I prefer meditating without any music/sounds, except for my tinnitus that never goes away).

I tried listening to them for like an hour or more, and it does give you some subtle strange feeling but nothing resembling a high by any stretch of the imagination. the cool thing is that when you stop listening to them after a long period of time the sounds you hear are distorted (and this one is VERY noticeable) but nothing more. oh, and when I am like 30/40 minutes in if I close my eyes my eyelids twitch a little and you can sometimes hear voices or sounds that aren't in the recording. strange stuff indeed but no, they don't get you high.

Yeah, I've tried an acid beat for 30 minutes one time...really tried...but nothing for me, and I would know what to expect.

Unless you can find a binaural beat that stimulates mu agonism don't expect any real relief besides maybe distraction which I guess can ease W/D a teeny bit. I've never tried these 'digital drugs' but I highly doubt they feel even remotely like the drug they're supposed to mimic.

I have never found them to work at all.
One had a kind of weird sounding build up that made my heart race, and then nothing.
I think they are entirely psychosomatic in nature of their effects

you cant 'get high' on binaural beats :) howewer, they are surely work for me. most of time i use it for sleep aid, 40 minutes slide from 14 to 3 hz, or for quick naps, like 30 mins slide from 16 to 4 hz and then back to 14. rarely beta stimulation to help focus. however, i doubt it would help you with your WD. i mean its more like meditate aid,not like benzo or anything like that. also,do research and forgot about digital drugs bullshit.

cheers, good luck with recovery! :)

idk guys. I'm feeling pretty damn relaxed right now. Also, I usually have visual snow that is incredibly annoying and listening to the 7KHz tone made all of that disappear entirely and I feel so relaxed....

Maybe it's the Temazepam I took 30 minutes ago. Maybe it's the 30 milligrams of Temazepam + the 40 milligrams of DXM. Whatever it is, I've never felt this much muscle relaxation before. Maybe it is all just placebo - but even with my tolerance to benzo's. I feel so damn relaxed that it's almost an event to even try to move my fingers to type this.

^^^ I have VS too, are you sure it was the binaural beat that made it disappear? do you have it 24/7 like me?

Yup, sure do. I have had intense visual snow for all my life. Listening to the binaural beats made it disappear nearly 75%. It was the most incredibly thing I've ever experienced.

I do think, however, that some of the effects I felt were more than likly a result of the Temazepam+DXM I took. But, with that being said, Thoth of them tend to actually make my VS worse.....
