Big muscular spasms/jolts/twitches on opiates

Anyone else get muscular spasms/jolts/twitches on Opiates ?

(Specifically O-Desmethyltramadol in my case, i'm not sure if the same thing can happen with all opiates)

What is going on here ? Are they pre-cursors/warnings signs of seizures ? Or actual mini seizures ? (i understand little about what seizures actually are despite wikipeding the subject) Or nothing to worry about ?

(Not sure if ive posted this in the right sub-forum, this question received no answers buried in the O-Desmethyltramadol thread, so i wanted it to get seen by more people to hopefully get some responses)
 
I got tremors when doing O-DTramadol, I think it's due to it being an SNRI. I know that Tramadol itself can cause seizures, not sure about ODT though. Either way, try to lower your dose, take a benzo if you have it available.
 
This is normal, and usually not to worry about. I experience this on tramadol, yes, and other opioids as well. If one is nodding and sitting up or erect, you will notice how their head falls, falls, falls, and then jerks back up.
 
When your respiration slows your brain sends a little shock to wake you back up because it thinks you might be dying. This commonly occurs when people are falling asleep and also happens when people take sedatives, especially opioids. This is called myoclonic or hypnic jerks. There have been dozens of similar threads with people asking why they get these effects on opioids.

Thanks. That was exactly the kind of knowledge i was looking for. Sorry i neglected to do a proper search of existing threads before posting this new one. I usually do, just forgot/got impatient on this occasion.
 
No worries - without knowing the right terminology to find the info, it'd be difficult or impossible to locate this kind of information. I'm glad that was helpful.
 
I get a leg twitch here and there but I get it on weed too.. I am on opiates all day every day for the most part due to my back.... If I run out I jump all over the bed in my sleep... even when I am not in WD. Opiates are the only medication I can sleep on and not move and wake up comfortable.
 
So I was addicted to opiates for 4 years and had stopped for about one whole year. I have a kidney stone and was prescribed percocets about a week ago. As well as taking Promethazine for bronchitis the past 5 days. I stopped the Promethazine 2 days ago. Last night my left arm jerked hard, then my head, legs, and chest started twitching. Today I've had constant chest and head twitches all day long. I'm trying to figure out if taking these opiates again after a year could be causing these constant involuntary muscle twitches in my chest and head?
 
I have spasms and the famous eyes like zoomin back and forth and not focusin. It could be effects as mentioned. However, when I was in the hospital on a Demerol pump and it started happenin the dr said I had too much in my system and I had to give it a rest for a few hours. Just make sure you're not taken too much. Try dosin a lil less just to see...
 
I think i was over doin the promethazine. So idk if its withdrawls or what. The twitching has gotten a little better but still their.
