Genesis 3:19 - Ash Wednesday
By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken;
for dust you are and to dust you will return.

Colossians 1:15-20
He is the image of the invisible God, the first born over all creation. For by him all things were created, that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers, all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church, who is the begining, the first born from the dead, that in all things he may have the pre-eminence. For it pleased the Father that in him all the fullness should dwell, and by him to reconcile all things to himself, by him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of his cross.

Psalm 87
A song. A psalm of the descendants of Kora.
On the holy mountain, stands the city founded by YHWH.
He loves the city of Jerusalem.
More than any other city in Israel.
O city of God.
What glorious things are said of you.
I will count Rahab and Babylon among those who know me.
Also Philistia and Tyre, even distant Ethiopia.
They have all become citizens of Jerusalem.
Regarding Jerusalem it will be said.
Everyone enjoys the rights of citizenship there.
And the most high will personally bless the city.
When YHWH registers the nations he will say.
They have all become citizens of Jerusalem.
The people will play flutes and sing.
The source of my life springs from Jerusalem.

Luke 4:1-13

Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert,
for forty days being put to the test by the devil. During that time He ate nothing and at the end He was hungry.
Then the devil said to Him, 'If you are Son of God, tell this stone to turn into a loaf.'
But Jesus replied, 'Scripture says: Human beings live not on bread alone.'
Then leading Him to a height, the devil showed Him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world
and said to him, 'I will give you all this power and their splendor, for it has been handed over to me, for me to give it to anyone I choose.
Do homage, then, to me, and it shall all be yours.'
But Jesus answered him, 'Scripture says: You must do homage to the Lord your God, him alone you must serve.'
Then he led Him to Jerusalem and set Him on the parapet of the Temple. 'If you are Son of God,' he said to Him, 'throw yourself down from here,
for scripture says: He has given his angels orders about you, to guard you, and again:
They will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.'
But Jesus answered him, 'Scripture says: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'
Having exhausted every way of putting Him to the test, the devil left Him, until the opportune moment.

Matthew 15:15-20
Then Peter said to Jesus, explain to us the parable that says people are not defiled by what they eat. Don't you understand yet, Jesus asked? Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer. But the words you speak come from the heart, that's what defile you. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander, these are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you.

Romans 15:4
For all the things that were written before hand were written for our instruction, so that through our endurance, and through the comfort from the scriptures, we might have hope.

Mark 12:28-34

And there came one of the scribes that had heard them reasoning together, and seeing that He had answered them well, asked Him which was the first commandment of all.

And Jesus answered him: The first commandment of all is, Hear, O Israel: the Lord thy God is one God.
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God, with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind, and with thy whole strength. This is the first commandment.
And the second is like to it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.

And the scribe said to Him: Well, Master, thou hast said in truth, that there is one God, and there is no other besides him.
And that he should be loved with the whole heart, and with the whole understanding, and with the whole soul, and with the whole strength; and to love one's neighbor as one's self, is a greater thing than all holocausts and sacrifices.

And Jesus seeing that he had answered wisely, said to him: Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask Him any question.

Lord I pray for everyone who is a servant of the devil. I pray for deliverance from sin and the grace to serve the Lord.

Romans 6:22

Matthew 5:44
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.
Basic pillar of Christianity....to love your enemy...the hardest one for me....impossible...''cause it's mean to overcome my survival instinct....guess i am a christian only on papper..and it makes me sad:(

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

It is likely the hardest for most of us, all we can do is try our best.

Thank God our loving merciful Father has already made provision for those of us who struggle with this or any other imperfection.

1 John 2:1-2
My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins, and not only our sins but the sins of the whole world.
