Job 17:13-15

"If the only home I hope for is the grave,
If I spread out my bed in darkness,
If I say to corruption, 'You are my father,' and to the worm, 'My mother' or 'My sister,' Where then is my hope?"

Acts 1:15-19

One day Peter stood up to speak to the brothers -- there were about a hundred and twenty people in the congregation,
'Brothers,' he said, 'the passage of scripture had to be fulfilled in which the Holy Spirit, speaking through David, foretells the fate of Judas, who acted as guide to the men who arrested Jesus-
after being one of our number and sharing our ministry.
As you know, he bought a plot of land with the money he was paid for his crime. He fell headlong and burst open, and all his entrails poured out.
Everybody in Jerusalem heard about it and the plot came to be called "Bloody Acre", in their language Hakeldama.

Psalm 118:8

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.

John 9:25

He replied, "Whether he is a sinner or not, I don't know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see."

Job 6:14

A despairing man should have the devotion of his friends, even if he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

Luke 3:1-6
In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,in the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness;
and he went into all the region about the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; 6and all flesh shall see the salvation of God."

Luke 11:46

"And you experts in the law, woe to you because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift a finger to help them."

Luke 11:52

"Woe to you experts in the law because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering."

Romans 1:25

They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Job 7:1-2

Does not man have hard service on earth?
Are not his days like those of a hired man?
Like a slave longing for the evening shadows,
Or a hired man waiting eagerly for his wages

Philippians 4:4-7

Always be joyful then in the Lord; I repeat, be joyful.
Let your good sense be obvious to everybody. The Lord is near.
Never worry about anything; but tell God all your desires of every kind in prayer and petition shot through with gratitude,
and the peace of God which is beyond our understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 1:18-24

This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
Her husband Joseph, being an upright man and wanting to spare her disgrace, decided to divorce her informally.
He had made up his mind to do this when suddenly the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, 'Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit.
She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save his people from their sins.'
Now all this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:
Look! the virgin is with child and will give birth to a son whom they will call Emmanuel, a name which means 'God-is-with-us'.
When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do: he took his wife to his home;

Luke 1:26-38

And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
And the angel said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be.
And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God.
Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever.
And of his kingdom there shall be no end.
And Mary said to the angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man?
And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren:
Because no word shall be impossible with God.
And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Luke 1:39-45

Mary set out at that time and went as quickly as she could into the hill country to a town in Judah.
She went into Zechariah's house and greeted Elizabeth.
Now it happened that as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
She gave a loud cry and said, 'Blessed be you amongst women and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
Why should I be honored with a visit from the mother of my Lord?
Look, the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy.
Blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.'

Psalm 138: 2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Luke 1:57-66

The time came for Elizabeth to have her child, and she gave birth to a son;
and when her neighbors and family heard that the Lord had lavished on her his faithful love, they shared her joy.
Now it happened that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; they were going to call him Zechariah after his father,
but his mother spoke up. 'No,' she said, 'he is to be called John.'
They said to her, 'But no one in your family has that name,'
and made signs to his father to find out what he wanted him called.
The father asked for a writing-tablet and wrote, 'His name is John.' And they were all astonished.
At that instant his power of speech returned and he spoke and praised God.
All their neighbors were filled with awe and the whole affair was talked about throughout the hill country of Judea.
All those who heard of it treasured it in their hearts. 'What will this child turn out to be?' they wondered. And indeed the hand of the Lord was with him.

James 5:4-6

Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.

Luke 2:8-20

In the nearby countryside there were shepherds living in the fields and keeping watch over their flock throughout the night.
Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them. They were terror-stricken,
but the angel said to them,
“Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy for all the people.
For this day in the city of David there has been born to you a Savior who is Christ, the Lord.
This will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven and on earth peace to all those on whom his favor rests.”
After the angels had departed from them to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Come, let us go to Bethlehem to see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.”
And so they set off in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger.
When they saw the child, they recounted the message that had been told them about him.
All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
As for Mary, she treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.
And the shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as they had been told.

Exodus 3:15 This is my name forever,
the name you shall call me
from generation to generation.
