Bible verse of the day!! Get your daily study on.

Matthew 25:3-13 Good one on being prepared. I take the "son of man" to simply be death.

The five foolish bridesmaids took their lamps, but they did not take more oil for the lamps to burn. The wise bridesmaids took their lamps and more oil in jars. Because the bridegroom was late, they became sleepy and went to sleep. “At midnight someone cried out, ‘The bridegroom is coming! Come and meet him!’ Then all the bridesmaids woke up and got their lamps ready. But the foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ The wise bridesmaids answered, ‘No, the oil we have might not be enough for all of us. Go to the people who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ “So while the five foolish bridesmaids went to buy oil, the bridegroom came. The bridesmaids who were ready went in with the bridegroom to the wedding feast. Then the door was closed and locked. “Later the others came back and said, ‘Sir, sir, open the door to let us in.’ But the bridegroom answered, ‘I tell you the truth, I don’t want to know you.’ “So always be ready, because you don’t know the day or the hour the Son of Man will come.

Consider the lilies in the field, they neither toil nor spin

👍

Here's the full parable for context :

Matthew 6:26:
Look at the birds of the air,for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not of more value than they? So why do you worry about clothing?
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these".

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.

and a time to refrain from embracing...yikes, why does that sound so real

this guy, king David or Solomon, i forget which, wants his cake and eat it too :)
It was King Solomon, son of King David.

He doesn't propose that you do both at the same time; rather that sometimes it's the time to embrace, other times it's time to not embrace.
It's the same with everything he mentioned.

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven":cool:

Matthew 18:19-20

“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask,
it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
For where two or three are gathered together in My name,
I am there in the midst of them.”

Matthew 7:21-23

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
On that day many will say to me, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many works in your name?
And then will I declare to them, I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.

Psalms 8:2-7

Even through the mouths of children, or of babes in arms, you make him a fortress, firm against your foes, to subdue the enemy and the rebel.
I look up at your heavens, shaped by your fingers, at the moon and the stars you set firm-
What are human beings that you spare a thought for them, or the child of Adam that you care for him?
Yet you have made him little less than a god, you have crowned him with glory and beauty,
made him lord of the works of your hands, put all things under his feet,
sheep and cattle, all of them, and even the wild beasts,

Ezekiel 6:3 proof of rockets

Ezekiel 6:3

and say, You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD! Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and the hills, to the ravines and the valleys: Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places.

Definitely a strong suggestion of vengeance, but where does it specifically and concretely mention rockets as the means of that vengeance?

Did I miss something ? 🤔

Cool, that's why we always actually quote the verse here in our posts. :cool:

In the English Bible it talked about a chariot with weels of fire and four faces or so I remember. I have a lot of books here but no Bible.

Gospel, Mark 10:35-45

James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached him. 'Master,' they said to him, 'We want you to do us a favour.'
He said to them, 'What is it you want me to do for you?'
They said to him, 'Allow us to sit one at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.'
But Jesus said to them, 'You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I shall drink, or be baptised with the baptism with which I shall be baptised?'
They replied, 'We can.' Jesus said to them, 'The cup that I shall drink you shall drink, and with the baptism with which I shall be baptised you shall be baptised, but as for seats at my right hand or my left, these are not mine to grant; they belong to those to whom they have been allotted.'
When the other ten heard this they began to feel indignant with James and John, so Jesus called them to him and said to them, 'You know that among the gentiles those they call their rulers lord it over them, and their great men make their authority felt.
Among you this is not to happen. No; anyone who wants to become great among you must be your servant, and anyone who wants to be first among you must be slave to all.
For the Son of man himself came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.'

Ezekiel 1 : 15 - 21

" behold the wheel upon the earth by the living creatures "

" and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel "

" As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful ;
and their rings were full of eyes round about them four "

" When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood;
and when those were lifted up from earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them :
for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels "

Ephesians 2:1-6

And you were dead, through the crimes and the sins which used to make up your way of life when you were living by the principles of this world, obeying the ruler who dominates the air, the spirit who is at work in those who rebel.
We too were all among them once, living only by our natural inclinations, obeying the demands of human self-indulgence and our own whim;
our nature made us no less liable to God's retribution than the rest of the world.
But God, being rich in faithful love, through the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our sins, brought us to life with Christ
It is through grace that you have been saved- and raised us up with him and gave us a place with him in heaven, in Christ Jesus.

Luke 12:35-36

See that you have your belts done up and your lamps lit.
Be like people waiting for their master to return from the wedding feast, ready to open the door as soon as he comes and knocks.

Luke 8:17-18 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest;
neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. Take
heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given;
and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which
he seemeth to have.
