In a soon to come future, pot may become legal. And because of this I have been heavily toying with a hypothetical bho extraction. Allow me to describe what I saw in my dream:

My apparatus consists of 2 tanks, 1 small, and 1 large. I shall describe them both, beginning with the smaller of the two.

The small tank is made entirely of stainless steel with caps on both ends. On the top is a pressure guage and on the bottom is a valve adapter. One of the caps can be removed and soxhlet thimbles containing organic plant matter can be inserted. Once these are in place it is screwed on tightly and one may equip it to the larger tank.

Big tank:

Okay this one is Much larger, this is where I would store the butane. I imagined a water-in line with a check valve. Water being non-compressable should force the butane through another check valve that allows butane into the stainless steel thimble. Then to drain the butane one could simply drain out the water from the larger tank, hit a release valve and the butane could evaporate back into the larger tank. This allows you to re-use your precious butane over and over. I figure this could be done relatively small scale for one's own personal use.

In a not too distant future where hemp is legalized, would you guys use a similar setup? How would you change it?

Some of the best wax in the club's is made with a setup that recaptures the butane. Best setup goal imk

Not to worry, I will be having mine custom built. Where I live professional welders are a dime a dozen. How about that :D!

As long as it has flare valves and other safety measures I don't see this being an issue.

ok so you're planning to recapture the butane but you would still need a compressor to push the butane through the next batch of green...

Relax, it isn't hard at all :)
I've done more complex chemistry sleepwalking >.>

As long as everything is stress tested/maintained I have nothing to fear.

Water tank, compressor, check valves, timers and a psi switch.. check, check, and check.

I'm not asking for help/suggestions. Everything has been drawn out, math has been done, everything has been funded and this project will be completed soon enough

I do not need help with this! Although if anyone wants to discuss working with pressure vessels or recycling butane that would be cool :D

I'm down to contemplate future ideas soon enough. I do hope to get some pictures of it/operation/end product soon enough.

I'm hiring welders for this job but I'll try and be thorough as far as expenses go if anyone wishes to build their own device. It's going to be *somewhat* portable like a rolling N2 generator.

It's already been done. There's at least half a dozen reputable companies that make closed loop extractors. If you can make a better one for cheaper though then more power to you.

They're already in wide use as well. Anyone making quality extracts uses a closed loop system, it's the only way. They're not even that expensive (if you're thinking higher than 3.5-4k for a base unit you should rethink something).
