I have seen several threads on cannabis but BHO I find is different.

I've smoked it for the first time last week & also saw the dangers of making BHO first hand, it seems to be a very underground thing in the UK but is wide spread in the USA.
I'm doing this post for debate on BHO / Dabbing errl as there isn't alot on UK use on the net.

I hope it doesn't get closed as I am not saying to make it is a good idea but the chemistry is spreading slowly but surely.

The first time I smoked BHO was llike all those years ago smoking my 1st bong of Afghan black, I never knew it was possible to get that stoned again :)

It's not chemistry it's perhaps the most simple extraction technique there is for cannabis oil. (extraction discussion is fine, chemical synthesis discussion isn't, so your thread stays)

it's not the best end result, but it is very goood, very simple, there's no "chemistry" to spread.

i first did a BHO extraction some time in the late 90's. I'm never at the cutting edge of anything. it's safe to say it's not "very" or even remotely underground.

EDIT>>>it's not dangerous either unless you're a total unprepared twat. The methods we previously used to make oil was a bit more dangerous, but still not dangerous as long as you took the right precautions.
 
I had never seen it or heard of it, I can't talk about my habits but it was a new thing to me & many others in the hydro circles I move in.

I didn't mmean chemistry as in some Sandoz style, more of poetic licence, I can only speak for what I've seen but the "B" part was heated very low & it still went up as I'm sure you know what I mean.

Sorry if my use of language was misleading.

Did you use Butane in your extraction too?
 
Ah right. Not what I was thinking of at all then. I've never actually extracted anything myself - weed is far too pricey for the likes of me as it is without acquiring enough to make extractions worthwhile. I have smoked a few oils over the years though. Very nice stuff indeed. Pretty rare unless you know somebody who grows though (and I don't and haven't for many years).

If it's an extraction then you don't have to obfuscate anything by talking in semi-code. I have no idea what the "B" part is (hence thinking it was butane). Not against the rules so can be discussed freely - have at it :)
 
Yes Butane gas out of a lighter refill.
I didn't want someone doing it then blaming me when their hair is burned off or their house is reduced to carbon.

I smoked oil years ago you rubbed on rizla but this stuff looks like heated sugar & is smoked using a blowtorch.
It was new to me & everyone I know.

Sadly my one contact screwed it up & nearly soiled himself when it went wrong, breaking bad of the cannabis world.
 
Definitely no heating involved - heating butane?!? 8(8o8(

In vaguely related news, fella I know went to see Bez DJing a few weeks back and mentioned that one of his "people" was running round asking if anybody had any butane cos Bez "urgently" needed some for his weed. This amused me immensely. Can you really do the extraction that quick then? Was an all-nighter - and this was early on - though.

EDIT: Found a post by f&b about butane extraction technique but light on detail (although easy enough to work out what needs doing). Am sure he did a detailed one too but must've been culled. I'm sure other folks have posted extractions too though with a bit of searching.

the extraction can be done in 10 mins if you need to. And if you had all your weede ready powdered etc. And used a hot water bath to speed up evaporation.

Usually the butane boils off so fucking fast at normal room temps theres no need for any kind of heat. If you were in a real hurry you might use a bain marie. If you were a complete bellend you might use the flame off a gas hob.

Not before 2001ish, before then we used this book as our bible, a right fucking palaver....first batch made in about '94....

We never reached the end of the book, managed to get a fair way through it in a haphazard way.

then suddenly found out about making BHO in 2001 (interwebz!!!) and didn't use Gold's methods ever again...

Interesting stuff though. And genuinely quite dangerous.

Thanks for the book tip, I have bookmarked it for tomorrow's reading.

I don't know of other methods to do it, I learned from Vice magazine & Google & that method showed heating butane which I'm aware can end up like the 5th of November.

How did people that have used it find the stoned feeling?
For me it was an extremely heavy vibe, personally I could do it every day but feel I wouldn't move off the chair.

Also is it possible to do the same with indicia (CBD) just the idea of it makes me smile
 
you can do it with sativas, indicas, hybrids whatever. Soiunds like what you tried was more indica anyway

Far far preferable is a proper hash, dry sift if possible (tastes amazing but not as clean as bubble), if not ice/bubble hash (very pure but often lacks the fine flavour you's expect from a good hash, normally down to shit drying techniques etc).....

you can make a dry sift hash, and still BHO the remains.... ;)

This is wrong.

The butane will "boil" off at room temperature, you might be confusng boiling butane with heating it. Boiling is just what happens when this type of solvent reaches boiling point...very low compared to water....

Heating it is not necessary at all, other than to knock a short time off the final evaporations, and then should only be done with a warm water bath.

Hey, I had that book as well - never bothered with any of his techniques though, just sticking 3 skins together was enough for me :)
 
Apparently butane from lighter gas is full of nasty shit..

There are pics here (as well as a comprehensive hot to guide) of lighter gas sprayed on glass before, during and after.. it leaves tonnes of shit on the glass after evaporation.
 
Some brands are substantially cleaner than others, I guess that the link you didn't post lists them.

What did Dabbing do to lead such a brief career? Or was he Farmaz again?

What the fuck did Farmaz do to deserve getting banned in the first place? He seemed alright to me, but I'm guessing I must have missed a major kick-off somewhere considering how laid back EADD and its mods are?
