best way to store your ganj

The other day my friend told me it's bad to store your pot in a ziploc bag. He said something about the plastic material causes the pot's potency to decrease over time. He said it was better to store it in a glass jar. Any thoughts on this? Is it true? Why? I know exposure to air is bad, but does the material of the container you store it in also have a noticeable effect on the strength of your weed?
 
i call bullshit. also i suppose that the active compounds in cannabis are pretty stable so you should not experience any potency loss in the average time your weed is in a bag^^. but other than that i never keep my weed in zips at home because it simply doesn't look that nice. i have a beautiful little wooden case. :) a glass jar maybe even airtight, but i think thats not really necessary unless you want to store it for many months, would also be fine.
 
Sounds a little strange, never heard anything like that before. But the thought of Glass being better than Plastic makes sense to me. I'd much rather store my stash in a jar than keep it in plastic. That's just my preference though. No idea if it makes a difference.

As long as you keep it in something that is air tight you should be fine. If it is exposed to air, it'll dry out quicker. I'm sure you knew that, though.
 
Well i only use .1 of weed a night, (low tolerance, i was using less ! Lol)

I vapourize too, so that saves it, but i find after 5 weeks of weed being in a ziplock bag its not really losing any potency
 
I wouldn't put it in a glass jar until the cannabis is totally dry. When you first pick up weed, keep it in a plastic medicine bottle for about a week, airing it out every day, then put it in the glass jar.

Too much moisture (fresh weed) and no air flow (glass jar) means more risk for mold growth. At least a plastic medicine bottle is permeable; plastic is not totally air-tight.
 
if the weed i purchase would be that moist that it's possible for mold to grow i wouldn't even bother to buy it lol. you're getting ripped off a little bit, you know?
 
my last purchase was the dust at the bottom , lol.
Mine was fairly dry though definately not damp at all....

Gonna take a nice few hits on the Vape later! :D


I think as long as its not damp when you get it that it should be okay for a month,
 
Glass jars are the gold standard for storing properly dried and cured weed. Electrostatic attraction on plastic bags can pull off some trichomes that are already loose and they breathe too much in some cases.

Ask yourself why do growers always store their dried and cured bud in glass jars. It's not simply because it looks good.
