It breaks down sugars into CO2 and mainly ethanol and heat.
Ok so some of the sugar goes to growing. Some of teh C,H, and O. So that will make it grow. What it doesn't want gets released as CO2 and ethanol. So every few growth spores miss the target of ethanol and crap out methanol.
