Best twist in a movie (possible spoilers)

chalk up another for Primal Fear. Edward Norton truly broke out in that role.

more recently, i thought the MI3 plot twist was pretty reasonable, especially when matched against the silly one(s) in the first MI.

I liked the twist in 12 monkeys. but I'd probably put Usual Suspects and Memento at the top of my list.

M. Knight Shyamalan's "The Village"

When the "truth" is revealed at the end I can remember hearing people in the theater all saying "Whaaat theee fuuuuck..." in unison. That's gotta say something.

I remembered sitting down in the middle of The Village and knowing exactly what was going on for some reason within 5 mins. It also sucked balls.

Se7en
The Usual Suspects

The Machinist had a good twist, even tho it was quite similar to two other films mentioned above.

id say the all time best twist would be the original 1960 psycho. im sure you all know the story, ill never forget the first time i saw that shit, the skeleton of "mother" then norman storm in, in drag 8o. another good one would be orson wells lady from shanghai. classics.

Yea it was pretty good, I remember telling myself at the beginning that it better not be himself or I was gonna be pissed. Still pretty good movie though.

the sixth sense.

i watched it the the 2nd time last night, and the movie is done in such a way that it totally makes sense for him to be or not be a ghost, depending on what you know when you watch it.

the village was totally disappointing. i saw that one coming within the first 5 minutes or so of the film, i had read a book many years back with a very similar plot.

fight club, memento, 6th sense... all very good ones, but hard to enjoy after being played SO much, they almost feel expected to me now.

LAYER CAKE (with david craig, the next james bond!) was an amazing movie, full of twists, that kept you on edge right until the very end. highly recommended, especially for those who love twisted, action packed, slick movies... it was great.

MAY was really good too, although i wouldn't call that so much of a twist in the plot but more of a twist in the movie itself.. it was quite twisted in the dsturbing sense, and then right at the very end something very unexpected happens that kindof changes around the whole perspective.

fight club... FIGHT CLUB!!! sifn't see the twist coming about half an hour before it came... don't get me wrong, i fkn LOVE the movie, but as far as film twists go... sorry, not really a twist but more of a plot devolopment as far as I'm concerned.

Machinist was good.
Memento was awesome.
Six Sense... did anybody see that coming? i dont think so, but if you did 'grats.
Identity sucked as far as twists go... ffs a deus ex machina... GF!
The Usual Suspects - will never be beaten.
And of course, Mr Trancedental Meditation himself... any David Lynch film. Allthough its not really a twist because you have no idea where you're going in the first place :D
Dusk 'til Dawn... OMG! Two awesome movies jammed into one!
... and because if I don't actually add something I'll never feel important...
The Jacket... not that good a movie, or a twist, but better than average...

oh, and one more to add, under worse twists... Butterfly Effect... if you like this movie, your soul is allready gone, so just enjoy life as much as you can.

of course the usual suspects and se7en (which ive just recently seen).

i thought the ending to shawshank redemption was pretty good, but i consider from where andy gets out onwards as the ending (which is a long time).

^^^omg I was just thinking "Hide and Seek" was the absolute WORST movie twist ever!!! That movie fucking sucked!!!!

honestly.. i guessed the "twist" within the first 20 minutes of the film.. without reading any spoilers.

i figured out this director's "Sixth sense" about half way through too.. to me... it just seemed like a generic gimmick of a twist.

I will say i enjoyed the twist in Fight Club.

While i wouldn't say this is the "best twist in a movie".. i definately was a bit shocked in V for Vendetta when it was V that ended up torturing Evy.

I thought the Village was damn obvious too. I guess that's what happened when you watch every twilight zone episode, I'm sure there was one with a similar twist.
