Best sedative anti-histamine?

what is the best sedating anti-histamine? Which provides the most sedation?

Is it a case of the more you take the more sedated you'll be?
 
Doxylamine is the most sedating one in my experience, well other then promethazine. I dont know how it is where you are but doxylamine is over the counter and promethazine isnt. There is a corrilation between dosage and sedative effects, but you have to be careful as a lot of anti histamines will induce delirium at high doses. You will also get a verity of negative effects as well as a hang over in some cases if you take a large dose.

Let me just throw a warning in for the hell of it. Delirium induced by anti histamines is far from fun and overdoses of doxylamine can cause kidney failure as it has a lower safety profile the DPH for example.
 
Yeah I've been using promethazine here which is OCT. I've never tried Doxylamine though, but I can see if we have that OTC here as well.
 
Promethazine. Not that great on its own but it'll do in a pinch, but really shines when potentiating opioids.
 
Probably promethazine? I've taken it accompanied with codeine but that was a long time ago.

Diphenhydramine and doxylamine are both ok if you want a sleep aid. Never really thought that hydroxyzine had much of a sedative and/or hypnotic effect.

Hydroxyzine is moderately sedating in its own right (far from promethazine though), and an anxiolytic to boot, but I've always found it one of the best for opioid synergy.
 
If you're looking for opioid synergy, cyclizine IS the drug of choice. Abused so much in the UK, hard to find - you have to ask pharmacist. Don't forget, the mixture IS more hazardous but once people try it (or Cyclimorph), they are hooked to a new level. Not hard to get methadone out of juice & mixed with cyclizine, the effects are more or less identical to dipipanone (Diconal).
