best 'scholarly' Benzo out there?

I've already made a bunch of related posts and threads regarding this I know but I wanted to hear from as many people who have had their own experiences with different benzos are possible.

The time is getting near where I need for my own good to begin the process of getting off Xanax (both XR and IR), which I realize sounds like a weird combination to be prescribed to for a lot of people here.

Now I would fairly rank benzos as most commonly used for:

1. Anxiety
2. Comedowns from Uppers
3. Recreational use

I have been perscribed Xanax, Xanax XR, Klonapin, Lorezapam and Gabapentin (not a benzo obvi).... and I think that is it as for anti-anxiety medications .

Assuming I will not be stopping them all together for a while, what benzo would you rank as being the most 'clearheaded' benzo, that lasts long, isn't as addictive as Xanax? Cause with the type of stuff I am trying to do, the Xanax I am taking seems to be going fine, but extremely ironically, it's actually making me slightly more anxious all the time because I see all these stories about horrible w/d and addictions.

I've always been curious about Valium. I have been perscribed to Klonapin before, and I always felt kind of out of it when I was on it... What is Valium like? All I know is it has a very long half life which is a positive thing.
 
yeah valium makes you really relaxed.. i never got high from lorazepam so it does leave you clear headed but not if u mix with alcohol thats for sure. u wont remember a thing if u take huge doses of ativan and drank beer like i did.

I agree.. I've had similar effects with Clonazepam
 
"clear headed" and benzos don't really go together, but i would have to say quazepam causes the least mental impairment ime. but that is because it is a weak benzo. diazepam is pretty impairing, and the best benzo that will be the most clear headed would probably be clonazepam. mental impairment is what benzos are for and what they do. gabapentin as you mentioned is a downer with less impairment, but if you want a drug that really gives you a clear headed high look to stimulants and keep the downers for after they wear off.

also, xanax as far as the withdrawls you are fearing isn't any worse than other benzos other than the fact that it has a short half life so the withdrawl comes sooner. but every benzo will cause dangerous dependence and withdrawl, its more about your patterns of use than the benzo you use.

really? ime lorazepam has the mental impairment of alprazolam and diazepam, but with less of a good high. from what i know and have experienced with lorazepam, it has pronounced sedative/hypnotic effects and is often given for insomnia.

To me Lorazepam is by far the most subtle of all benzodiazepines. The least recreational also.

I don't really any benzos leave you "clear-headed", but if I had to choose a benzo that offers great relief from anxiety with the least sedation, I would definitely go with lorazepam. It is a very subtle benzo but has great anxiolytic properties, and also has good anti-convulsant properties. All around it is a very useful benzo.
 
I think i should point out that although lorazepam is not too drowsy ,it is very addictive and yor tolerance increases far more rapidly than valium(diazepam).
Most doctors use diazepam to taper as it is the easiest to work with.
In the Uk Clonazepam is only ever prescribed for epilepsy.

^ yeah, oxazepam is one of the less impairing benzos. but quazepam is actually even less strong.
 
The best benzo out there are purepac ativans I'm going to ask for purepack klonopins next time ot judt name brand. I just love how fast it takes it off the anxity that is and since I am tapering mdone it helps with nausea.......but seriously 50mgs of roche or purepac would be great with 4mgs lorazepam purepacs it is the best for anxiety I tried and am on the klon loraz combo tonight and it never feels good or bad go figure

Word every benzo seriously makes you somewhat groggy I cannot say for some but the main ones I've had in the past did. Valium feels cloudy. Xanax feels better than valium at times but both pretty tiresome. Clonazepam for me is like valium muscle relaxation and better clearer headed anxiety relief.lorazepam is a warm blanket. Temazepam is a blur. Etizolam made me dwwl tired but speedy in a wau maybe it wasn't even real my apt on wens will go better. I just need 10mg valium 4 times I would go for 3 times a day or this. Klonopin and xanax and backup lorazepam would be cool I'm still thinking what's working best I was pissed until my klonopin started working so maybe higher dose and no more temaz and just xanax. Idk
 
I found clonazepam to be a fairly functional benzo-- especially when combined with some adderall.

Xanax is like retardation in a pill. Exact opposite of "clear-headed", IME.
