The list is pretty good, but flawed in delivery. Like an ass, I made a new year's resolution to get clean and damn it was just SOOOOO fun... ugh (cold turkey with no other help so I would actually experience the pain of pure detox to make me think twice about using again)...
To make a long story slightly shorter, my left foot was crushed by a 3/4 ton iron bar about 5 years ago. I had 23 separate fractures and developed compartmental syndrome from the injury. The dumbass orthopedic that was on call was fucking useless. All he did was perform a double fasciotomy (opening up the compartment to relieve pressure... i.e. cutting my foot open on top and the side and leaving it that way for 6 days). He did nothing to fix any of the fractures including one that left my 2nd metatarsal at a 45 degree angle toward my 3rd metatarsal causing massive nerve agitation there, not to mention the nerve damage by a sloppy cutting location caused by the fasciotomy he did. I got to meet our good friend Dilaudid and hang out with him for a week before going on a 13 norco 10 a day regimen to treat the pain (the 1st week home it was not enough, I ended up taking 15-16 a few days, with no tolerance, yeah it was real pain fuckers). I had been on the 7.5/325s for 6 months the previous year for a slipped disc, but knew nothing about withdrawals when I went through my 1st cold turkey completely ignorant about what opioids were. As of that point my only vice was cigarettes, no drinking, pot or anything else for that matter. I had abstained from all of it just because all the stuff I had access to just made me feel like shit. I had no use for any of it. That was from age 22 to age 31 when I started the norco 7.5s. Needless to say after the foot accident I became VERY educated on our buddies the opioids, and read up for countless hours on how this shit worked and why it does what it does to humans, whether during the using stage or the w/d stage. At the height of my habit I could have used heroin at a normal junkie level hit and probably not felt much of it at all. I know for sure one day I took 25ish norco 10s and 12 xanax .5s with 4 3mg ambien and ended up literally bouncing my sluggish ass off the wall in the bedroom hallway just because it was fun, and then ate 12 ice cream sandwiches before "falling" asleep for 18 hours after being up for 2 days on the norcos. I would eat almost half my script in 3-4 days, then tough it out with the help of "friends". For the record I look at that point in my life as being the most useless pigfucking junkie addiction plagued waste of life, and realized I'd went way too far.
I will tell you straight out I'm not a doctor, or a psychiatrist, but I am quite learned in these things and I'll just say I'm (a lot) smarter than the average bear (I know, I know! normal internet anonymity allows the 14 year old emo douche to declare the infamous 130 IQ statement... So really I'm not trying to brag here, I just want to assure you I'm not a reTard (the hangover ftw!!!)), and yes I am an opioid addict and fucking know it. I'll be one for the rest of my life whether I ever use again or not.
Now the detox method below represents the conclusive evidence of a scientifically valid testing protocol that has been implemented on 9 people with the addition of a valid control subject as well. Myself, my wife and several drug buddies that I actually give a fuck about consist of the experiment group and through repeated processes and refinement of the methods, the conclusive evidence indicates that this detox regime is as effective as it gets without maintenance opioids, additional addictive substances or admittance into a proper clinical detox program. i.e. THIS FUCKING WORKS as long as you follow it to the tee with the allowed modifications as indicated below. So take that fuckers... lulz... Also my wireless keyboard like to act funny so if you see words that look like this, that be the reason, and I just registered here on bluelight tonight to post this for all of you. Even if it helps just one person, it was worth my time and thought, and this is my contribution to the cause... so suck it
Regardless, here's the plan all laid out and flawless, practically painless, easy to follow (if you can get the scripts you'll need) and tested and proven to work:
The List:
Neurontin/Gabapentin (script)
Amitriptyline (script)
Lopermide
Melatonin based sleep aid
Generic Multi-Vitamin
Aleve and Ibuprofen
#1 The most important thing is to wean down from the high usual dose to the lowest dose like 100mg Hydro to 5 over the course of a week. This is going to set in the w/d pain, but is also where the Neurontin comes into play. The wean and the Neurontin are of course dependant on your drug of choice, but assuming you're not about to die from a full gram of oxy a sitting, and am a more typical addict like me (i.e. 150mg hydro + 30mg oxy and xanies), this will work.
#2 NEURONTIN DOSING. Keep in mind that taking opioids together with Gabapentin (Neurontin's generic name and gaba from here on out so I don't have to keep typing that dame word!) will decrease the efficacy of the opiate and increase the bioavailability of the gaba. In layman's terms this mean starting the gaba is going to decrease the opiate effect anyways and the opiate is going to increase the gaba effect. Hence, it's time to wean. Start the gaba dose on day 1 at 600-800 3x, day 2 900-1200 3x, day 3 1200-1600 x3 or 4, day 4 1200-1800 x3 or 4 and day 5-7 at least 1200 all the way to 2400 3-4 times. The reason for this is that your gaba tolerance will rise faster than any opioid ever would, and if you maintain the 1st day dose without raising it, you will simply start feeling like hell the same way as you would without the gaba. The one warning about the gaba is that your brain will begin functioning like it never has before, which may keep you up at night like me right now... lmfao! #4 below will help with the sleep problems... Also at the doses mentioned gaba has nootropic properties that are undocumented, but substantial, so use the time on gaba to read and educate yourselves, and fill up your brain with knowledge instead of narcotics, there's nothing wrong with getting smarter...
#3 After you've weaned off and have properly "cleared out" the weeks or months of backup, on day 3-5 begin the Lopermide to combat the explosive runs as needed, like up to 10mg/day depending on what it takes to stop your ass, but not stop you up like a cork.
#4 Amitrypiline! This puppy is a tricyclic antidepressant, but is used at lower doses off-label for neuralgia and supplemental for acute pain. The REALLY cool thing about this one is at 50-100 mg opposed to a normal 10-25, you WILL be able to sleep without the restless limbs (thanks to the gaba and Lopermide as well). Also a natural sleep aid with melatonin will absolutely help, not only with sleep, but with anxiety as well. Begin this day one taken before you lay down to sleep and continue on for up to 2 weeks, as after 2 weeks you can start lowering the dose back down to 25mg, and you will SLEEP!!! (Caution: you may have some fucked up dreams if you are a normal dreamer, and if you're like my wife and never dream, you will dream on these! just a mild warning just in case)
#5 I want you to notice what is NOT included here by pointing out what is included again:
Neurontin/Gabapentin
Lopermide
Amitrypiline
Melatonin based sleep aid
Generic Multi-Vitamin (you need to restore your body to a working state, and make it healthy. a multi-vitamin should be a must even when using, but especially when not)
Aleve and Ibuprofen for the inevitable aches (3-4 Aleve, and 800-1000mg ibuprofen for breakthrough usually will be about right by day 4 or 5, and you'll need less as more time passes)
quick edit: Get some cranapple juice and 7-up cans. In a 32oz cup pour 1 can of 7-up and fill the rest with the cranapple. You'll need to re-hydrate after the almighty colon dump(s). Caffeinated beverages will make things worse so limit yourself to just a morning pick me up like 1 coffee or mt dew-cola-w/e and try to drink Gatorade and the cranapple cocktail. The other advantage is that the cranapple will help clean out your liver which after long term abuse will not only hate you, but will need the cleaning like your life depended on it. And the cranapple cocktail actually tastes pretty damn good. As a side note around the time I first did this detox method, my side/back was just killing me. I figured out by process of elimination that is wasn't w/d pain but was actually my liver taking revenge on me for the apap punishment of 4grams+ per day for 4 1/2 years at the time. I followed the cranapple routine for about 2 weeks, and low and behold, no more pain there! The cranberry juice and the multi-vitamin will be your best friends in restoring your body to its proper state, and the melatonin is as natural as is gets and fucking works even if you do have to triple the dose, lolz... Also eat for heaven's sakes. Really! I know during w/d the very thought of food is revolting, but you have to eat. You have to get your digestive system back on track as after being on opioids for so long, once you're off your digestive system will kick into overdrive until your body restores equilibrium. Same goes for your endorphin production which is why you hurt when you come off, and your mood neurotransmitters will require balancing as your dopamine production will stop, killing any pleasure in life, as you've been forcing massive amounts of dopamine production from the opioids effect on the reward system. The amitripiline is very well suited for restoring your mood center to normal and is better than most other anti-depressant as it effects all 3 mood effecting neurotransmitters: Serotonin, Norepinephrine and Dopamine. SSRIs and SNRIs only effect one or another while ignoring dopamine and the beta blockers are almost as dangerous in the long run as the drugs you're kicking. Homeostasis is why you go through withdrawals anyways, so restoring the equilibrium of bodily systemic functions is of utmost importance. Keep this in mind...
...take that ya dirty hobo...
Now for what isn't included, and for logical reasons:
LYRICA - The side effects, specifically the withdrawals are 100x worse than a opioid cold turkey, and is no where nearly as effective or safe as Neurontin... trust me I've been through Lyrica w/d, and was hospitalized for a week because of it before the w/d symptoms were widely known, so again DO NOT TAKE THIS EVIL FUCKING DEVIL DRUG!!!)
ANY BENZOs (replacing one addictive substance with another is about as stupid as it gets, and if you do use 'em, your just asking for another addiction, my wife is a perfect example). Also include hypnotics like Ambien or Lunesta, as you'll have rebound insomnia from 'em, and the taste of metallic ass from the Lunesta... really lol
Low dose opioids like 5s of oxy or hydro after the weaning is over like day 5 or 6. All you're doing is keeping yourself on drugs, hence YOU ARE NOT CLEAN!!!
APAP - If you've been on combos like 10/325 hydro or perc 5/325 your liver has had more then it's fill of apap, and will thank you for stopping. All the Tylenol will do is make you feel like rotten ass...
Antihistamine based sleep aids - They do not work on the kind of insomnia and restless body symptoms that w/d brings. Unless you take like 10 of ''em with the amitryptiline and natural stuff, they are pointless and can actual worsen the w/d symptoms because of how they work.
One thing that I could recommend in good conscience is one dose of methadone on the last day. The reasoning is that as long as you're not normally taking it or subs, your body is used to a 4hr opiate. The methadone is a MUCH longer acting opiate and will take the last day on and 1st day without edge off. The gaba will relieve anything left of the w/d and the other stuff will counteract any other effects. The dose for methadone is entirely dependent on what your coming off of. If its hydros 20-30 is perfect. For oxys 30-45, and so on so forth. There are comparison charts all over the internet that will inform you. The dose should be equivalent to about 2/3 of your normal daily use when you were using. You may actually get a high, but if you're serious about getting clean, that high will be the swan song high of your recreational using days.
Now for the Disclaimer:
The one negative thing about this plan is that it makes detoxing way to fucking easy and somewhat enjoyable due to the Neurontin high and nootropic qualities. The saying "No Pain, No Gain" comes into effect. You will not have physical withdrawals if you follow this and modify slightly as needed per case. No physical w/d at all, and it will even take care of a lot of mental cravings.
What this does is make detox too easy, which makes using again a much easier choice because "hey I can do a full month binge and come off with no problem, so fuck it!". We're addicts, that's what happens. Hell I'll do it just to lower my tolerance so I can feel the hydro high at much lower doses, then do a mini version again to fight a week long binge w/d.
That being said, yes this is a repeatedly tested detox plan that I have used for not just myself, but also for my wife and 6 of my drug buddies to detox 'em for w/e reason, and it works every time as long as it is implemented correctly. Hell it even detoxed one buddy of mine that was on a methadone regimen of 120mg/day, although it was a 2 week wean, but dude had been on methadone for 3 years and took that long to come down from the 360mg they pushed him to. He was clean in 12 days.
With this, keep in mind that I am not a doctor or psychiatrist, I am an addict that is sick of being a using addict. The consequences of a 5 year habit to my marriage, sex life, family, financial well being, health, sanity, ad nausea, have been profoundly detrimental. I hate being an addict more then I love being high anymore.
So this is a gift from me to you, my fellow addicts, as a way to detox without a clinic and the bill. After day 5 when you are finally clean, force your sorry ass to be more physically active. Clean your house, do your dishes, take walks, exercise, work more, or if you're like me and have avoided work because it would interfere with your habit, get a fucking job and find something else to enjoy and engage the pleasure centers or your brain. Find anything to do that doesn't involve being stagnant (that's the surest way to relapse, avoid at all cost!). Disassociate yourself with the things that would point you towards using again, and I'm talking people places and things. Get rid of all of them. Getting clean means a full life "spring cleaning". You gotta do it. I did. Sadly the likelihood of me relapsing and using again is 90%, but at least I know the way out... And now you do to.
I'll check back soon and see if my rambling and preaching is useful, or was just a waste...
Take care guys

Drugs of (no)Choice:
5 years Norco 10/325 100-180mg/day (60-120mg/day perscribed)
3 years Perc 5/325 15-45/day (only prescribed once or twice a year, as a cautionary script)
3 years Xanax .5 1-3mg/day (.25-1mg/day perscribed)
2 years ambien, can't remember exactly, but the largest available one 2-3 per night
9 months maximum dose Lyrica (600mg/day) until insurance forced my cold turkey 2 weeks of hell
2 years Neurontin up to 6 grams/day (2400mg/day perscribed)
Fuck it... all of it legally perscribed to a point, but abused like a real junkie. All of this because of a foot injury, I am an addict of no fucking choice.
