best on stage music performer??

Awful????? well not sure about that one! Its just one of my lifes little failures taking things to excess at times! I am bad dont do things in halfs, having a drink, Im getting bloto, taking drugs I'm getting as spannered as much as I can!!

Yeah didn't mean to come across judgemental ;) just meant that I, personally, am a bit annoyed that I have been so fucked up at various concerts and gigs that I've attended that I've not been able to appreciate the artistic quality - thanks to being wasted. :(

I never took that as judgemental at all, dont worry, I take no offense at all! Me too seemingly I have seen some fantastic DJ's in my life, but have no recollection!! :|

Iggy pop, faith no more & gill Scott heron ,
They was all pritty fucking epic .
I really thought I creamed my pants at Courtney love as well, but my mrs said she Wasn't even there ?

Saw velvet revolver a couple years ago in a very small venue , that was pritty fucking good as well.

I was at that festival n saw Isaac Hayes among other people.

GZA. GZA. FUCKING GZA!!!

My word, that shit was wild. The cunt was practically in the crowd for about half the gig.

Rapping the chorus to Shimmy Shimmy Ya while face to face with GZA, literally about 3 inches away, was absolutely incredible. I could have actually kissed him on the forehead if I'd wanted to lol. Shook his hand at the end, my mate had him locked in a handshake for about half a verse near the start as well. Shit was off the rack. Amazing gig!

WU-TANG CLAN AIN'T NOTHIN' TO FUCK WITH!!!!

I got asked it I wanted to go to GZA tonight at the last minute and dingied it, regret it now though my mate said it was bangin.

Punch yourself in the nuts for making that awful decision earlier. It was actually fucking amazing. I was raging when he did his last track, thinking the gig had been mad short as he'd came on late but my mate checked the time & he was easily on for over an hour. Felt like about 15 minutes. I was sober as well, only had a JD before we left, 2 pints & a jagerbomb (my mate went to the bar for pints & returned with them as well) in The Arches.

He was off the stage standing up on the barrier leaning right in amongst the crowd for over half the gig, then hung about for ages afterwards shaking hands with people, signing shit, getting patted on the head lol.

I've got a foot long Subway here ready to scran, just puffed a dooby, could not be happier. The only problem is I need to get up at like half 7 & I'm wired to fuck, absolutely buzzing. No chance am I getting to sleep anytime soon.

Sounds well good man, just gave myself a good bash right to the baws for that decision. Wish I had went now, I ended up just going for a couple pints and heading home early instead. I think Talib Kweli is playing the arches next month so I'll be sure to get tickets for that.

Aye March 23rd if I remember correctly. I'm on my phone just now so a link is a mission but I'm sure it's on the arches website.

Is he? Ooooft. I never heard about that. I'll definitely be getting tickets for that. Saw him at the Carling Academy supporting someone else (maybe Kanye West, when his first album was out) & he was incredible. I was more there to see him than anything else.

Got a link to details of the Kweli gig?

lol, nice bit of qualifying :D

I think musically the best preformance ive seen is Slightly Stoopid. The best act was probably the Mistfits, but that was also my first concert and the only one i was 100% sober at so i dunno.

So true Wu Tang gigs are fukin manic they make heavy metal stuff tame .
When it's a proper line up you can't beat it for pure entertainment and real un predictable shit.#

Anything is & does go off at a Wu gig it's not for the faint hearted.

When i saw them at The Odeon they were almost at full numbers everyone except ODB was their including Cappadona who smashed it with his winter warz verse .

I much prefer the smaller intimate gigs to the large scale things.

Some of the best that ive been to and can remember off the top of my head were American Music Club in Bath Moles Club many years ago (there was only about 15 people watching them). What a stunning performance.
Half Man Half Biscuit in a small polytechnic night event. Never expected them to be so powerful and tight. Thought theyd be a shambles. I still remember the power of their "I hate Nerys Hughes" from more than 20 years ago.
Much more recently Ida Maria in the Night and Day Cafe in Manchester. What a fantastic gig.
Also I am Kloot in that venue were pretty fuckin awesome.
Ellie Goulding in Club Academy Manchester. Spine tingling or what !
Airborne Toxic Event in The Ruby Lounge and Club Academy. Fuckin storming shows !
Band of Horses @ Manchester Ritz. What a "big sound" they had !!
Black Mountain in Academy 3 Manchester playing to very small but sadly largely unappreciative crowd. There only seemed to be my self and a handful of others that were really getting "into them". They were so powerful and hugely talented. Amber the female backing vocalist has one of the most powerful voices, i could only bow my head in awe, admiration and ecstacy. Sorry if it seems OTT but thats how it was in the moment.
Ozric Tentacles @ Band On The Wall. So got into their "reggae beat" on the mephedrone. Sorry dont know what the up-to-date expression is for that ! The lady in the band was so friendly too, gave me a big smile and a hello as i was having a cigarrete outside. Never known any other band member do that.
Possibly the best of all though was Noah and The Whale at Manchester Cathedral. No words can describe the acoustics. They had a mini orchestra and everything.
I had taken a lot of mephedrone at many of these gigs which no doubt added immensely to the enjoyment.

Worst gig ive been to was The Cribbs at Manchester Ritz. They sounded dreadful. I could not make out a single note of a "tune" or even a chord change throughout the entire set. Just a seeming battering of non changing fuzz and noise.

Biggest regret and missed opportunity was not having heard of Nirvana at that particular time that i was in Bristol and they were gigging there. It was just before "Nevermind" became massive and they were playing in a small venue; The Bierkeller. How awesome would it have been to have been there !!

Haha, aye had to be done. I still stand by the fact that his first album is quality. Plus it was a proper hip hop gig, no costume changes, moving platforms or pyrotechnic pish. Couple of turntables, a mxer, a DJ & an MC. Kweli smashed it though, it's criminal that he was just the support act.

edit
