best on-screen us president?

Definately Dave Chapelle as President Black Bush
"The motherfucker went to Africa and bought some yellow cake"

BILL PULLMAN!?!?!?!?!? His only saving grace is having done Spaceballs.

My god, the man has an acting range of "Constipated and smiling" to "Constipated and angry".

Like in Lost Highway: he was constipated and confused, the whole movie.

^I prefered Chris Hammond's Bill Clinton to the new Bush on SNL. Hands down.

LBJ, as himself, in The Fog of War.
Convincing? Yes, it really did happen that way.
Presidential? There is nothing more presidential than a U.S. president felxing America's muscle.
Human? U.S. president's tend not to have a soft side, so the Human factor is out.

A real U.S. president deliberating the use of Atomic Weapons....oh, the drama.

its a great movie

I'm sorry. This isn't even a matter of opinion: Independence Day is not a great movie. It's an over-budgeted, formulaic hollywood piece of shit that's a disgrace to real filmmakers everywhere. I could sit down and whip up a script for a movie like Independence Day in about four to five hours. It's a matter of filling in variables in a formula, which all screenwriters know about, it's commonly referred to as the FCBPC formula (which stands for Flaw, Catalyst, Big Event, Pinch, and Crisis). You fill in those variables for both the "action" story and the simultaneous "emotional" story, condense it into 80-100 pages and VOILA! you have yourself a magnificent piece of shit. There's no art to this shit whatsoever. It's painting by numbers.

Shit like that movie is what I'm forced to write when I desperately need money, there is no artistic value to it whatsoever. Generic, predictable plot lines; poorly developed characters; and ridiculously expensive special effects and CGI. Nothing more, nothing less. Plus Will Smith is a complete choad, and is not a real actor.

In fact, Independance Day is a perfect example of how shithead hollywood producers are ruining the art of film. Film is an art, not a fucking pastime. There are real filmmakers that devote their life to making deep, personal, moving films and they don't get shit because of assholes that rather watch shit like Independance Day.

^^^BOOYA!! I was wallowing through this thread looking at mediocre actor after mediocre actor. BILL PULLMAN??? That character sucked!! And I thought the American President was terribly dull. But the guy from 24 (whatever his name was) was STRONG! Now THERE was a president.

great special effects do not always translate to a shitty film. I personally enjoy eye candy. It sucks when that's all the film is about, but by no means is that the reason the film's bad or wrong in the realm of artistic filmmaking.

Carl- I prefered Chris Hammond's Bill Clinton to the new Bush on SNL. Hands down.
