Its illegal in every state in the US to make tea from Opiate Poppies. They are, however legal to grow, sell/trade, and possess for decorative purposes. The seeds are also legal to possess for culinary purposes.
I'm new here as well, welcome to the site! Hope you used the Introduction forum? I recommend looking at the "Poppy Pod Tea Super Thread" There are plenty of threads on this forum, and all over the internet discussing various ways of making this tea.
You failed to tell us current tollerance/dependance to opiates. We cannot recommend a dosage due to varying amounts of active alkaloid content in each pod. However, most agree that you should start small if you are opiate naive. Try two pods and see how that makes you feel before upping dosage.
The most common method that I've seen, and know to work, is by bringing two cups of water to a boil. Grind your two-three pods in a coffee grinder, and put them into a bowl. Pour the boiling water over the pods and let sit 20 min.
Filter with wire mesh strainer, tea shirt, nylon, or sock. Add honey/sugar/milk to your taste preference. Drink half of the tea, wait 30min to one hour before drinking the other half. It does take a while to kick in.
Don't start using opiates if you don't already. They're very addictive man. I really want to hear how everything goes for you after you've tried the tea. Please post your report back here, or PM me after you've read this so we can keep in touch. Don't over do it, and stay safe. Even though I've given you most of the information you need, I still recommend looking up as much as possible. This is no joke, you can easily become sick from the tea. You can easily take too much tea.
Don't start if your off of opiates already.
