Best DRUG use for ANXIETY!

Honestly, in my years of fucking with benzos, I have come to realize that they actually give you more anxiety (a little later on) than they can cure. They also eat your memory to shreds. If you're prescribed benzos on a semi-regular basis, don't you notice that your anxiety and proneness for panic attack increase?

I've been addicted to benzos off and on for 3-4 years now. Benzo w/d is no joke, benzo dependence sucks ass, and anxiety from benzos sucks donkey dick.

Take that dude's opinion for a 30 minute cardio workout. Working out relieves much stress, anxiety, and it makes you feel better/healthier about yourself. Why take a drug when you can achieve it with a little bit of sweat and work?

kratom luver-Im sorry but apperently you have never been dependent on benzodiazepines so in that case you really shouldnt be talking. Maybe you have used them, but obviously not long enough to gain a dependence. You say it is painless and easy to properly taper down from therapeautic doses medicaly.

I have actually been on a dose of 4mg clonazepam for eighteen months before when I came out of hospital. Most people are actually able to taper off with no problems whatsoever, it just takes some people longer than others. Ten years is an awfully long time to be on benzos. Most people are able to come off them after a shorter period of time if they respond well to psychological therapies, such as CBT.

valium doesnt do anyting for me aswell
ssris dont help

nothing helps, apart from excercise. hence why im a fitness fanatic

it depends if it's a one time thing or a continuous thing. if it's a one time thing i would def. say opiates. and xanax in second. now a continuous thing, i would have to say SSRIs or SNRIs.

i never noticed that, and i cant say about benzos messing up memory, i have a bad memory, VERY bad short term (sometimes cant even remember what i did that morning) ive taken so many different meds including almost all the benzos so i dont know if thats the reason

Yo KL haha
No, I feel what your sayin dog, and I believe you and Im sorry if I came off harsh I was drunk as Fuck the other night when I posted that.
Anyways, Im still going to have to disagree with you.....I think a year or longer........and your definatly fucked. Im not saying it cant be done. But im saying even after being on them for maybe 6 months some people have a REALLY harsh wd. The Only way to wd, Of course, is the diazepam taper. (that was sarcastic, but its completely right too haha so..) yes the infamous by the book valium taper. It really does work the "most painLessly" however around 18 months exactly I beleive , haha wierd coincidence eh? but at that time I was forced to taper off, but the rehab clinic I was working with was very happy to do a diazepam taper with me since I explained it to them and had already begun the process months earlier and they know it works. anyways this was when I was like14 or 15 I dont know but yeah I had INTENSE wds even from dose drops and it got more and more wacky every fucking day It was nuts I was hearing video games in my ears and I couldnt stand up without the help of some cute girls helping me walk I had to go to the hospital because I was seizing. I really dont believe it would have killed me, death from benzo wd is actualy SOO much rarer than people would have you to believe its Honestly almost non existent. however the only way it can happen is that the wd can trigger seizures obviously and we all know a grand mal can kill you. that said, alcohol is basicaly the only wd that is Widely know to cause death.

Anyways my valium taper was succesful but I was FUCKED out of my head completely and then another month and a half and the shit was finly really getting gone from my head and I was acting so cracked out and just fuckin freakin out you know (I do have underlying Panic Disorder and its very real and the benzzos dont cure it it comes back) so yeah I actualy felt kinda good a few weeks earlier cause the mania was kinda fun but then when I realized what it was like to not have benzos on my receptors 24/7 it was a WEIRD empty feeling along with the panic and my head was just too fucked up so I got back on some klonopin and xanax after 2-3 months of getting clean that first time.

So my main point was that I dont think Anyone who has been using for over a year is going to have a "painless" or "easy" time getting off the drug. you may be a rare exception but ask many and the wise people know, that the WORST WD there is, is benzodiazepine wd. Well, specificaly they will say "Xanax WD hands down" or Klonopin WD, Is WAY worse than any other drug wd there is, worse than methadone worse than ssris."
I however would have to say that theres one wd that tops it in terms of fucked upness and thats alcohol because it straight up will kill you fast if you dont have benzos or something anti-epileptic.
And then third Id say Bupe/Mdone for a tie as they are similar to benzo wd and similar to hardcore opie wd (duh! haha) cause its an intense opiate wd that lasts for 2 fucking months and then the full year to get feeling normal again.

Moral of the story? Dont take drugs every day of your life. duh. haha.
also if you think ten years is a long time, my grandmas been on xanax for like almost 30 years just 1 blue football at night, and I know lots of other old ladies whove been on them 25 years. Im the only person I know my age whos been on them this long. it sucks, and yet still its cool because they Really do prevent panic attacks its just a Nice feeling all day to feel normal and not thinking my chest is going to explode.

Also, there is that buspirone. I don't know what this shit is for but it surely is of no use for anxiety. It was also useless for me as an augmentation of paroxetine.

I've read that Buspar (buspirone) is useless for treating acute anxiety. A former collegue of mine was prescribed Ativan and Buspar and said the only effect the Buspar had on him was that it stopped his hand tremors when he was feeling anxious.

WoW!! Are you ME?!?!? hahaha seriously though what the fuck sounds exactly like me. I cant see myself getting off them either. Im not even sure it would be safe or medicaly mise to do so as they have changed my brain chemistry around so much. and they (I take Klonopins and Temazepams but ive taken them all) REALLY do keep panic atacks away the klonopins due they are constant they are WAY better than xanxax XR;s though those are Awesome too...but klonopin is Way cheaper and lasts just as long/longer have you thought of that? Or is xanax just your thing/work good for you? I havent upped my dose of klonopin ever. I think its a good drug. but if you try to get off it IS A BITCH its a fucking BITCH this person above me agrees I think.........hes only been on em 2 years longer than me but right on dude good luck and im glad to hear the xanax xrs are working for you!! I used to take them too becasue I started with xanax and it was Horrible yet beautiful but if I didnt take a pill every 4 hours I was freakin out. So Then I took jsut one 1mg XR yellow pill a day for a year and I loved the stuff it worked really great. but not as great as klonopin :) its so ..soft

Caffeine helps many with certain types of anxiety mostly social I believe. It makes my anxiety WAY worse which is odd because Meth cures my anxiety feels so smoothe.
Meth/other amphetamines-can be of great value again in certain individuals. I know alot of people who use uppers for social anxiety very common

Yeah, amphetamines are great for my anxiety, unless I take too much and then it turns on me!
I was on a low dose of alprazolam (.5mg 3x day) for 2.5 years and my new pdoc stopped prescribing them all at once because I told him I was drinking. My anxiety became so severe I thought I was going to die at any moment, total GAD from then on with panic attacks. This lasted for about a year but now it's getting much better with the Effexor XR and dextroamphetamine.

Now I am only dealing with social phobia instead of general anxiety disorder. :(

wow that was a fuck-bitch-ass thing of that doc to do to you!!! what the fuck I dont believe thats even legal becsaue its not ethical to cold turkey someone of benzos its considered a medical emergency due to the fact you could have grand mal siezure and there is a slight possibility it could kill you.
but Im glad effextor and dexedrines are helping you! oh yeah dexedrine is one of the best, its up there with meth and mdma.......haha damn I wish I could ever get my hands on any
peace

My pdoc recently increased my Effexor XR to 300mg and my general anxiety level seems to be getting lower but I still get the acute anxiety/paranoia in public. How often do you have to use Xanax for anxiety attacks? I'm hoping that my social phobia will lessen at this high dose of Effexor. If not, I might have to push for an anxiolytic like klonopin/xanax.

Truthfully I only find myself in situations where I need xanax for anxiety relief 2 or 3 times a week. I honestly believe that Effexor has helped my anxiety so much that if I wasn't on it I would need xanax daily. (and we all know daily benzos is not a good thing)

What does an SSRI do? Why is it just as important/more so than a benzo?

SSRI's inhibit the reuptake of Serotonin (neurotransmitter) which increases the amount of Serotonin in the synapse, thought to help improve mood disorders.

Some SSRI's can help with anxiety disorders and are not considered "abusable" or addictive like benzodiazapines. Doctors prefer to treat anxiety disorders caused by chemical imbalances with SSRI's because of this.

I think social anxiety disorder (SAD) is quite unique, in comparison with other forms of anxiety. The physical symptoms are different, for example blushing usually is far more intense with socially anxious individuals than with someone suffering from a panic attack, or low level constant generalized anxiety disorder (I'm not saying people with GAD don't get red faced as a result of their anxiety, it's just that it's far more pronounced with SAD).

Because the physical manifestations of SAD are often more pronounced and contribute to the anxiety in a vicious circle (for example, your blushing causes you more embarassment/anxiety, which causes more blushing and so on) the beta-blocker hypertensive drug, propranolol can really help. It controls blushing, tremors of the hands and body, a quivering voice, nausea, butterflies in the stomach etc. and helps break this vicous circle which has a knock on effect and in turn indirectly helps with the psychological aspects of the anxiety. If you are careful with the doses, so as to avoid a serious interaction, a combination of a therapeutic dose of a benzodiazepine (not too high a dose, as this drug in higher doses causes mental defecits and particularly has an effect on memory) and propranolol can be effective. This combo is often used by performers (muscians, for speaches etc.). Propranolol, AFAIK, is not scheduled and so is easier to obtain from your physician. I am prescribed this anyway for high blood pressure and find it quite useful in certain situations where my social anxiety impedes my performance. As has been pointed out, some benzodiazepines are more suitable than others, with there being significant differences in the half life of these drugs and with some benzodiazepines being more sedating than others. In my opinion, shorter acting benzodiazepine such as alprazolam, temazepam and lorazepam are more suitable for short term situational anxiety, but for longer term anxiety have the disadvantage of the need to frequently redose, in which case drugs with longer half lives (and therefore longer durations) are better in that they need to be taken less frequently as they are longer acting. Diazepam is an example of one drug that has a very long half life.

If you are using benzodiazepine on a long term basis, if possible, I would recommend having planned 'drug holidays' where the dose is tapered down and the drug discontinued for a period of time. In the period of time where the benzodiazepine is not being used, another drug such as a sedating antihistamine or an antipsychotic can be used as a substitute. There is good evidence that antipsychotics have a beneficial effect on anxiety, as they reduced stereotyped thinking, which is a core feature of anxiety. They have an 'ataractic' effect where the user is less distressed by troubling internal thoughts and a low dose of an atypical antipsychotic, such as a dose of 5-10mg of olanzapine can be employed with great success. Such a drug holiday can allow lower doses to have more of an effect and keep tolerance and physical dependency in check. Rebound symptoms such as insomnia can be controlled with other drugs or supplements, such as melatonin, valerian or sedating antihistamines like promethazine or diphenhydramine.

It is worth noting that anxiety can cloud the mind, interfering with concentration, making your mind go 'blank' and although benzodiazepines can have a negative effect on your mental acuity, these drugs can actually help your focus so that all in all, are useful drugs for making speeches or performing. It's important however not to take too high a dose if you are looking for anxiolysis without it affecting your faculties.
