Hi, So recently I was rushed to the heart hospital because I thought I was suffering from a heart blockage. (I have severe anxiety and as y'all know anxiety makes you think crazy things) I was feeling really bad burning and pain in my left thigh running down my feet. I had a cat scan, ekg, mri, chest xray, and the doctor said i suffered from nerve damage or a nerve blockage. Before then i thought i was having panic attacks from the nerve pain so i was taking up to 9 Xanax A Day. I know that's alot. but after I left the doctor perscribed me 30 Oxycodone 15 MG every 4 hours as needed for pain. and tbh I've had no panic attacks since then (: I feel like a new person. (I'm still taking my Xanax 2mg 3 times daily as needed) the xanax and Oxycodone work really good togeter in my opinion. I go to my primary care doctor thursday, but i was wondering if there are any better opiates that might work? or if oxycodones the best. Because i'll more than likely be on this medication for a long time. .... So my question is are there any other meds out the that work for nerve pain? thanks.

Hi chanz!
I'm sorry to hear what you're going through, but at least you have a diagnosis now. Sounds like you have been through some scary stuff!
I don't know much about nerve pain, and I'm sure you'll get some great responses.
I just wanted to let you know that there's a "pain management megathread" here in "Other Drugs", and I know there is alot of conversation and info on this subject there.
It's a great thread. When you search for it, you will see different versions and I think the most recent is 3 or 4. You'll be able to tell because you can only post in the most recent one.
It would probably be a good place for you to check out since it seems like (unfortunately) this is going to be a long-term deal. There are LOTS of CPP's (chronic pain patients) who post there and I bet you'll make some new friends who can relate to what you're going through.

lyrica is better than gabapentin, but they are both superior nerve-pain reducers

kind of random, but methoxetamine is apparently good for neuropathy. source: interview with ketamine chemist

So you're saying the hospital gave you 30 15mg oxycodones...you're very lucky. And I highly advise you not to go in the Dr asking for things by name, yes dilaudid works great but go in there asking for it and you'll be treated like a drug seeker. I have a feeling you doctor will not give you 15mg oxycodones when you go...that seriously surprises me they gave you something so strong and in such a quantity...be glad you got them I won't be surprised if you get percocet/hydrocodone 5mgs or neuron tin and lyrica good luck
