Hi guys,

Been a pretty eventful day due to sister attempting to take her life and my mind is racing with thoughts and just want to switch off and get some sleep.

I've got some melanotin and antihistamines, what's the best amount to get me to sleep? Also got some co-codamdol if that will help me get some sleep?

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

I'd say closer to 25mg of benedryl for sleep or 2mg-3mg of melatonin for sleep. Melatonin won't make you really sleepy though so you have to be laying down and ready for sleep when it kicks in.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through such a difficult time.

What anti-histamines are they?

Ideally you want a first generation anti-histamine like diphenhydramine, or promethazine which have strong sedative properties.

I find 50-75mg promethazine works wonders for me.

If you use Melatonin I would use that on its own - don't mix it.

I wouldn't use co-codamol to make you go to sleep. Codeine can make you drowsy/sleepy, yes, but to get enough codeine to cause drowsiness, you'd have to take a lot of paracetamol and that won't do you any favours.

If you really want to use Codeine, I would do a CWE to get rid of the paracetamol. I'd probably take 80-150mg codeine.

Couldn't sleep for the life of me so went docs and explained what happened and got some zopiclone.
