I'm reading conflicting information about Sandoz and Watson transdermal patches, whether they are gel based or not, Sandoz is not, but I keep reading that it is, which I attribute to the fact it changed in 2013. There are apparently different amounts of actual fentanyl in different manufacturers as well as the issue of some patches not staying on. Because of the different amounts of medication, some patches, like the Watson I had last month, only work the 1st day and it's pretty much downhill from there, ending in severe pain. I asked my Dr how this is possible since I read fentanyl was 50 to 100 times stronger than the morphine I was switched from, 30mg 3 times a day for 3 years, and I never experienced such pain! He said it was due to the fact the morphine was measured in mg and the Fentanyl in mcg, therefore the strength gets lost in the translation, among other things. It also explains why people OD when experimenting, it's 3 days worth of medication. Pillsare measured per pill, duh. My question is which manufacturer makes the patch with the dosage closest to that of Duragesic (since they vary widely in the actual amount of medication) so that I won't be suffering on day 2 and day 3, and actually stays on your body, since you won't get the medicine if you reapply the patch because the medication is dispensed through the patch being stuck properly to your body! I chose Bluelight because the people on this site appear to have the most knowledge about such things! Any help is greatly appreciated! Peace&love J

I really don't know much on the subject but if you told your doc you were in severe pain than he better damn well do something about it instead of force you to ask important medical questions on online drug forums!!!

The Sandoz Matrix patches are basically identical to the Duragesic brand name made by Janssen. They have almost 50% more Fentanyl in their patches than their competition, but I've heard that Sandoz has already or will soon stop making Fentanyl patches. I don't know if that's true or not since I get the Duragesic brand.

Before I discovered that I could get Duragesic, I used The Mylan brand which worked quite well. That would be my second choice. Good luck and let me know how it works out. Take care!

Any gel patches you may come across now are old stock. As you already know they've discontinued with the reservoir type and are exclusively polymer matrix adhesives.

Id get the jannsen cilag if you can. Ive found the generics inferior in a number of ways.
