I know you're all going to say "LSD experiences should never be aborted" but that aside, what compounds that you know of have been used to abort LSD experiences?

Neuroleptics acting as 5-HT2A antagonists, combined with sedatives/anxiolytics to reduce physical/emotional manifestations of anxiety if necessary, seem the most useful.

Risperidone.
It's a 5-HT2A antagonist that will displace LSD at the receptor, pretty quickly after administration (orally), leading to an aborted or greatly diminished trip.

so question ........ is there documentation of somebody taking an obscenely large dose of lsd and then aborting with a vial of risperidone when it got too much ?

Well, I don't know if this counts as large, but i've terminated someone's 4-blottertab LSD trip with Risperidone (1mg)... they came down to almost baseline in 30 minutes.
They were incoherent before the administration of it.

coool, just wondering if it was dangerous, or had negative side effects. It would be handy if one wanted to explore the upper limits < 5 tabs and not fear turning into rambling unemployed self proclaimed messiah of the cosmic multiverse :)

seroquel would work for sure - makes you feel pretty flat though.

I think you could also use the common anti nausea drug Stemetil (Prochlorperazine) which is one of the older antipsychotics.

Although it does have more side effects such as tardive dyskinesia (but I think that's with long term use.)

Just read a vollenweider et al. 1998 paper that compared ketanserin, risperidone & haloperidol in their ability to attenuate the effects of psilocybin.

Ketanserin & risperidone had an equal efficacy - they were very effective. Haloperidol reduced only some aspects of the experience but actually increased others i.e., fear of ego-dissolution

interesting stuff

i wonder if anyone here is going to enter an E.R. at one point in their life rambling risperidone, risperidone, risperid didily idly done !

can't say whether or not the lsd hallucinations will linger, but you absolitely wont get visuals from benzos.

yeh, I know, I meant whether it would end the psych induced visuals

This is like asking "How do you abort a bungee jump?"

No, it's not, it's literally asking what is the best compound to abort an LSD experience

Look, do you want to do it or not?

Not comparable. You can prepare yourself for a bungee jump, and once you step off there's no going back. With an acid trip, you don't necessarily know what you're getting in for (varying strength, perhaps you're not all that experienced but trying to explore, etc) and you can step out of it if necessary - as shown by the use of the aforementioned drugs.

I can only speak for myself as a relative n00b at acid, but I would find this type of 'emergency exit' extremely comforting and helpful should I choose to explore this drug more.

I think the availability of such a drug is a good idea BUT that only perhaps one or two people ought to know that it is available . Otherwise I could see people thinking uneccessarily about whether they needed to abort the trip etc, which wouldn't be great.
